I have worked as a tutor, teacher, and mentor in higher education for 16 years; and I began to work with students of all ages in 2011. I earned an undergraduate degree in English with two minors: Biology and Intercultural Studies. I earned a master's degree in English and American literature with a research focus on contemporary narratives of slavery, the history of slavery and its forced diaspora, and utopian and dystopian sociology. I tutor a variety of subjects, but my favorites are reading/literature and writing. I believe every student already possesses a wealth of talent, knowledge, and skills. Therefore, my goal as a tutor is to meet a student where they are, discuss their strengths, learn about where they may grow, and then create an individualized tutoring plan that we agree on together. I view tutoring as a team effort in which the student and I work together as equals.
