I underwent extensive training to become a writing tutor in college, attaining international tutor certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), and going on to tutor students in a wide range of subjects. I am most passionate about tutoring students in philosophy, English and literature, and I am experienced in tutoring ESL students in both these subjects and others. I also enjoy working with students on their college application essays. I believe that every student has something interesting to say, and it is deeply rewarding to see a student realize this as we work together to craft a personal statement that is persuasive, concise and, most importantly, authentically their own. I am a strong believer in working collaboratively with students to foster a relaxed environment in which they can explore what interests them and by doing so develop an independent desire to learn. In my spare time, I like to read (literature and philosophy), write, snowboard (I competed in slopestyle and halfpipe in high school) and cook big meals with friends.
