About Me
I recently relocated to Atlanta from Washington, DC, where I worked for several nonprofit organizations in both leading and supportive capacities. I visited nearly forty colleges and universities, encouraging students to engage their communities and find new ways to apply the knowledge and skills they acquire in the classroom. I am currently the Editor-in-Chief of Crit, the Journal of the American Institute of Architecture Students, a national peer-reviewed publication in which high school, college, and graduate students publish their written and design work. I am preparing applications to dual-degree graduate programs in city planning and law. I consider "co-learning" to be the most appropriate educational context, rather than a "master-apprentice" situation in which a student passively absorbs information. I seek to engage students in an active and participatory process, in which they consider me as an equal participant. Through critical dialogue, I seek to challenge students' perceptions and help them overcome barriers. I truly value knowledge and I am constantly seeking new opportunities to learn. I seek to strike a balance in life between work and leisure, sternness and light-heartedness, seriousness and whimsy. I understand well the pressures and stresses that students face, and I hope to alleviate some of these stresses on students' path to success.
