I am really excited to become a tutor at Varsity Tutors. Currently, I am retired from a career in accounting. I have a master degree in accounting from University of Texas (Arlington), a master degree in education from Harvard University and a Bachelor degree in Psychology from National Taiwan University. I was born and raised in Taiwan but have lived in the U.S. for almost 34 years.

I am a lifelong learner, teacher, and researcher in the field of physics. I received a PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan and a BS in Physics from Rice University. I have four years of physics teaching experience at the University of Michigan, primarily undergraduate laboratory courses with an emphasis on electromagnetism, circuits, waves, optics, and real-world applications of these and other physical phenomena. Many of these courses, including one I helped design, focused on helping non-STEM students master physics concepts that may be difficult to grasp in a standard classroom setting. I have tutored in a variety of subjects since high school, but most recently I have spent several years helping students understand concepts and succeed in coursework throughout a large variety of college-level physics topics, from basic mechanics to advanced electrodynamics and special relativity.
I am passionate about children's education and excited to help students learn!
I am a PhD student at the University of Michigan, studying social psychology. Before this, I was at Duke University completing a BS in psychology as well as a MS in global health. My research combines the fields of global health and psychology by examining the effects of culture on self-related psychological processes. I hope to continue in academia to become a professor of psychology, as teaching is among my greatest passions.
I am a current sophomore at Yale University, studying Environmental Engineering and Global Affairs. I spent four years tutoring K-12 students in reading and math, and I believe in the importance of appreciating the process of learning and mastering concepts.
I am a senior at Yale University studying English. I have 5+ years experience tutoring high school/middle school students in writing, college essay editing, Common App advising, AP English, and ACT! My students have earned acceptances to Brown, Duke, Cornell, Vanderbilt, and the University of Michigan.
I am a secondary education teacher with a certification in Biology and Chemistry. I also completed my Masters in the Arts of Teaching degree at Wayne State University. I have a great passion for teaching and motivating students of all abilities to help them succeed in school and reach their full potential.
I am currently working towards my MD/PhD degree at Michigan Medical School.
I am a former high school STEM teacher with a passion for teaching, certified in Secondary Math and Biology. I LOVE math and science, and what they tell us about the world. As a teacher in Detroit, I've worked with students of all ability levels and learning styles, so I have a lot of strategies in my tool belt for tackling difficult concepts. My style as a tutor is to be patient, positive and encouraging. I tend to develop strong relationships with students as a mentor.
I am a graduate of The University of Michigan and The University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School). I received my undergraduate degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with a minor in history. Also, I recently graduated with an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School).
I am looking to enrich the minds of those around me for the betterment of society. I want to pass on knowledge gained from both my educational and work experience to students at various levels. I am excited to prepare these students to be the innovators and creators of the future!
I am passionate about helping students. I believe that we all are learners and teachers. all of us are readers and writers. I have the ability to share my passion for learning with others, and one of my greatest strengths is building relationships with students which is the corner stone to successful learning and teaching. I believe that there are no bad kids or bad students, it's just that we all have different paths and ways of learning, we all have a different pace. As a teacher i strive to acknowledge that and find ways to support all students, adapting to their needs and paths, meeting them where they are at. It is my job to believe in every single student and help them believe in themselves. When I am not teaching or engaging with students, I like to read, walk, hike, travel, explore, work out, watch my favorite shows. I enjoy playing and watching ice hockey, and I try to go home to visit my family in Italy once a year.

Many also benefit from tutoring in test preparation for the SAT and ACT, AP subjects, and foundational skills like phonics and early numeracy for younger learners.
The first session is focused on getting to know your student—their learning style, academic strengths, challenges, and goals. The tutor will assess where your student stands, discuss what you'd like to accomplish, and create a personalized plan to make the most of your tutoring experience.
In a classroom with a 16.6:1 student-teacher ratio like many Farmington Hills schools, individual attention is limited. With personalized 1-on-1 instruction, tutors adapt their teaching in real-time to your student's pace, answer questions immediately, and focus entirely on addressing your student's specific learning needs without distractions.
There's no long-term contract required—you can work with a tutor for as long as it benefits your student. Pricing varies based on the tutor's expertise, subject area, and your location in Farmington Hills. We recommend starting with a few sessions to see results, then adjusting frequency based on your student's progress and goals.
Varsity Tutors connects students with expert tutors who have strong backgrounds in their subject areas—many hold degrees in their fields, have teaching experience, or have demonstrated mastery through standardized testing. Each tutor is vetted to ensure they can deliver high-quality, personalized instruction.
Many students show noticeable improvement in confidence and understanding within 3-4 sessions, though the timeline depends on your student's starting point and goals. Consistent tutoring combined with practice between sessions accelerates progress—students working toward specific benchmarks like grade improvements or test score goals often see measurable results within 6-8 weeks of regular tutoring.
