Until I was a post-doc at Temple Medical, I did not realize my capacity for relating my knowledge of my fields of interest to students and visiting researchers. The enjoyment of helping to shape the minds of those who are up and coming scholars excites me. More so though, it is the exchange of ideas and perspectives that drives me to continue pursuing mentorship.

I graduated with honors from Wheaton College (IL) with a B.A. in English, Writing and a Certificate in Early Church History. While studying, I worked as a Writing Consultant where I empowered undergraduate and graduate students to write clearly and persuasively and to read their own work with a critical eye for revision. I believe each student has the capacity to write effectively and I am passionate about providing the skills to assist students to develop their own voice. In addition to Writing, I especially enjoy tutoring Literature, Reading, and ESL/ELL. I am particularly equipped to tutor high school, undergraduate, and graduate level students, but I also have experience with younger age groups. My sessions promote long term improvement in students' abilities by adapting to their unique learning style and inspiring them to reach their goals. In my free time I pursue figure skating, hiking, yoga, painting, and poetry.

I am a graduate of Washburn University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus on special education. After graduation I began teaching in the Gardner/ Edgerton school district. During my five years as an educator, I had the opportunity to teach a variety of grade levels including 6th, 4th, and 2nd. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about math and reading. There is nothing more fulfilling than helping a young person recognize their potential and giving them tools to help them succeed. I believe a solid, well-rounded education is undeniably one of the most important things in life. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my twin daughters, being outdoors, playing soccer, and just relaxing with a good book.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kansas Wesleyan University, a Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Barry University, and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Since earning my doctorate I have enjoyed a successful career as a chiropractor but crave further fulfillment. The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that I can teach people about their health. Although I have a vast knowledge base, my appetite for knowledge lies with biological sciences. The way our bodies and the world around us functions is astonishing and I can't seem to get enough of knowing about it. Many see science as boring and difficult to understand, but I agree with Richard Dawkins when he wrote, "the feeling of awed wonder that science can give us is one of the highest experiences of which the human psyche is capable." I am also a believer in the Socratic Method. Whenever I uttered a phrase akin to "I don't know," my parents would reply with, "figure it out." And so I did. I have an expansive list of interests and hobbies, too vast to list in its entirety. I will say that most of my interests lie in discovering, building, and exploring. I am often found working on DIY projects around the house, doing automotive repairs, hiking, reading, and even cross-stitching.

I have also tutored abroad in Korea in standardized test prep like SAT, MCAT, and SAT II. In my free time, I enjoy dancing and cooking, as well as running cross country. ACT Prep Tutor • +14 Subjects
I am a highly motivated rising Sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill who is looking to help others realize their full potential. Currently, I'm working toward my Bachelors degree with a double major in Business and Public Policy. My senior year of High School I tutored students in various math subjects, and this past year, part of my work with the Big Brother Big Sister program has been working with a third-grader with her math, reading, and writing.I tutor math up through Algebra 2, as well as ACT Science, Reading, and Writing, SAT Critical Reading, and Elementary and Middle School reading and writing. My favorite subject to tutor is ACT prep, because I like to see students scores on practice exams, and the actual exams, improve as we work together. My favorite part about tutoring overall is working with students and getting to see their excitement when they realize they've figured out how to do something they previously didn't think they could.Outside of tutoring, I enjoy going to the gym and reading. I've played soccer since I was 4 years old, and I really enjoyed playing on an intramural soccer team during my freshman year. During the school year, I'm very involved with Student Government, the Roosevelt Institute, and the Big Brother Big Sister program.

I believe that every person can get better at their task if they put their mind to it. I am a fifth year teacher who has taught both social studies and language arts at the middle school level. I've tutored at the elementary and adult levels, as well. My goal as a tutor is to help and guide students where they need/want to be. I want to know that my students understand the subject or topic at hand. As a teacher already, I know how to make connections and meaning to the topic and can help guide others into understanding, as well. I am driven to helping others accomplish their goal no matter how many sessions it takes, because that is my job.

I have nine years of experience teaching in the bilingual classroom. I have taught three different grade levels: pre-K, first grade, and third grade. I have implemented two different bilingual programs, "Regular Bilingual Classroom" and "Two-Way Dual Language." I have worked with students who functioned below, on, and above grade level. I have been very successful at meeting diverse students' needs by facilitating different learning strategies, offering individualized support, encouraging critical thinking, and integrating a variety of resources.Teaching in a bilingual classroom is challenging and motivating for any educator. Bilingual students are in need of special care and attention in the learning process throughout the year. Although some learners might have strong linguistic skills in their native language, they may have deficiencies in their second language; it is the task of the teacher to help guide the student through this learning process.
