During my Bachelor's studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, I was a mathematics and statistics tutor for a year, which I greatly enjoyed. I am currently a fourth-year Ph.D. student studying mathematics at the University of Florida. During my Ph.D. at the University of Florida, I was a teaching assistant for Calculus I, Calculus II, and Precalculus, and I was an instructor for a section of Calculus I. These experiences helped me develop my tutoring skills. Many students see math as a set of formulas that they can apply to the problems on their exams and homework. However, I feel that this way of thinking not only stifles true understanding, but also makes students' lives harder. My teaching philosophy is that if a strong conceptual understanding is built, then students will be well-equipped to answer any question that they can be asked. When I tutor, I make sure that students develop this foundation first and foremost.

Studying Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Planetary Science at Florida Institute of Technology, Matthew uses trigonometric and exponential models to describe everything from stellar luminosity curves to orbital dynamics — the same function families AP Pre-Calculus builds its entire framework around. He teaches composition and transformation questions by walking students through what's actually happening to a function's shape and why, drawing on the physical intuition that comes from applying these tools to real systems daily. His experience tutoring college peers in calculus and advanced physics means he can pinpoint exactly where a student's algebraic reasoning needs tightening before the AP exam.
Studying Mechanical Engineering at Alabama, Abigail encounters polynomial, trigonometric, and exponential functions not as textbook exercises but as the language she uses to analyze forces, motion, and system dynamics every week. She channels that hands-on familiarity into AP Pre-Calculus by drilling down on how students read and interpret graphs — particularly the transformation and end-behavior reasoning the AP framework weights heavily. Her tutoring across the full math sequence from pre-algebra through AP Calculus means she can quickly spot the specific algebraic gaps holding a student back.
The moment AP Pre-Calculus shifts from 'solve this equation' to 'describe what this function is doing and why,' a lot of students lose their footing — and that's exactly the transition Sharif is built to coach. His deep calculus background (he teaches through AP Calculus BC) means he can trace every pre-calculus concept forward, showing students how mastering function behavior now pays off in the next course. He approaches each session by working backward from the reasoning the AP exam actually tests, not just the computations.
Hi, I'm Sebastian! I'm a student-athlete at Trinity College studying Mechanical Engineering, and I am passionate about helping students find their stride in the classroom. I focus on creating an encouraging, structured environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. From math and sciences to study skills, I'm dedicated to providing the guidance and support
I am a graduate from Rochester Institute of Technology with a master's in Game Design and Development. My passions lie in everything related to games and mathematics. In the past, I have tutored various subjects in mathematics throughout high school and college, including but not limited to Algebra, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematics of Graphical Simulation, and Linear Algebra. As for technology, I am more than happy to reach out for help in Web Development (HTML, CSS, Javascript) or C# programming. I believe that every person can learn any topic. While every individual has different tastes, strengths, and weaknesses, there is no such thing as an "incapability" to know a subject. Education often possesses a guise of anti-fun, but I can promise you that all topics can be engaging, and I am willing to show you how engaging mathematics and technology can be. As a Game Designer, I have a deep interest in both playing games and making games. This includes games of all kinds: video games, board games, tabletop role-playing games, trading card games, miniatures, and even some sports like tennis or ping pong. Games act as a fantastic teaching tool. They teach by design without users recognizing. It is always a satisfying moment when somebody says "I learned that word from Magic" or "D&D taught me that." Remember: you can succeed. If something is important to you, then it's always worthwhile.
One of the most important things in tutoring math is to make sure students understand why a mathematical procedure works, not just how to do it. When student know how to do the procedure, but don't understand why it works, they will forget the procedure or misapply it, or worse, they may begin to hate math, not because they can't do it, but because they don't understand its relevance.
I have helped many students achieve excellent grades in math by focusing on what really matters: building confidence and a clear understanding of concepts. My teaching style is simple I make sure students fully understand the basics, then guide them step by step to solve problems on their own. I encourage lots of practice and always take time to clear doubts, so that no student feels left behind. Math doesn't have to be scary with the right approach, it becomes logical and even enjoyable! My aim is to make every student feel confident, independent, and capable of solving problems successfully.
Hi I'm Alliyah! I'm a recent Harvard Graduate ('26) with a Bachelors in computer science and neuroscience and a Spanish Language Citation. I have over 10 years of experience tutoring and have also worked at top tech and research companies (IBM, SpaceX, Kempner Institute, etc.). I'm really passionate about making learning fun! I hope that sessions with me will make the material not just understandable but also enjoyable and applicable. I like incorporating technology, hands-on activities, and real-world applications into my STEM-based tutoring subjects. As a tutor, I specialize in Algebra (Algebra 1 and 2), Calculus (1, 2, and 3), Computer Science (Python, Java, Web Development), PSAT, and neuroscience/neurobiology.
Hello! My name is Mihir, and I'm a passionate and experienced math tutor with a strong academic foundation. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University, where I concentrated in Discrete Mathematics and Logic and earned a Minor in Computer Science. I also completed my M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My background equips me with both deep mathematical knowledge and a problem-solving mindset that I bring into every tutoring session. I specialize in tutoring Math at the middle and high school levels. In the past, I've taught SAT Math, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and Algebra 1 and 2, among other subjects. My teaching approach focuses on building intuition and a sense of methodical problem-solving so that students can avoid memorization and cramming. I believe that this is the best way for students to be assured of their own skills and have confidence in tackling problems on their own.
Designing rocket trajectories and orbital models in his Aerospace Engineering program at UT Austin meant Pranad lived inside the trigonometric, polynomial, and exponential functions that AP Pre-Calculus is built around — they weren't textbook abstractions but tools for predicting how things move through space. He teaches the course by anchoring each function family to that intuition, especially when students hit the conceptual jump from computing answers to interpreting what a model's behavior actually means. His emphasis on connecting algebraic manipulation to graphical reasoning lines up directly with what the AP framework rewards.
Mechanical engineering at UT means Yucheng works with polynomial, exponential, and trigonometric models in applied settings — designing systems where function behavior isn't abstract but determines whether something actually works. He brings that practical lens to AP Pre-Calculus, breaking down the course's modeling and rate-of-change questions so students see the reasoning the exam rewards. Rated 4.9 by students.
As a graduate of Columbia University with a Bachelor's in Creative Writing and a rising second-year MFA student at Columbia's School of the Arts, I bring a unique blend of artistic and analytical skills to my tutoring. With over two years of experience teaching and tutoring, I specialize in AP Calculus AB and narrative writing, guiding students to discover their own voices while mastering complex concepts. My teaching philosophy centers on recognizing the individuality of each student; I adapt my methods to meet their diverse needs, ensuring a supportive and engaging learning environment. My passion for education stems from my belief that learning is a lifelong journey, and I am dedicated to fostering a love for both mathematics and writing in my students.
Bioengineering doctoral work at the University of Maryland had James building and solving the same polynomial, exponential, and trigonometric models that AP Pre-Calculus tests — except his were describing drug delivery kinetics and tissue growth curves. He teaches the course by pulling apart composition and transformation questions until students can articulate what a function is doing before they ever pick up a pencil to compute. His graduate-level math background also means he can flag exactly where sloppy pre-calculus habits will cause real pain in calculus.
Before she found her footing in STEM, Riya struggled with the same abstract leaps that trip up most AP Pre-Calculus students — making sense of how trigonometric, exponential, and polynomial functions actually behave instead of just memorizing formulas. That personal experience shapes how she teaches the course now as a Computer Science major at Texas A&M, where she breaks down composition and transformation questions into concrete, step-by-step reasoning that builds real understanding. She's especially sharp at helping students bridge the gap between algebraic manipulation and the graphical interpretation the AP framework demands.
