As an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with a Master's in English Education from the State University of New York College at Brockport and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (minor in math) from the State University of New York at Albany, I have over 35 years of experience in both tutoring and classroom settings. I am passionate about helping students discover their unique voices, reach their full academic potential, and build confidence in their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. In addition, I work closely with students on college essays and personal statements, helping them craft authentic, polished writing that highlights their unique strengths and voice. I tailor lessons to each student's learning style and goals, helping them master core skills while developing a deeper appreciation for literature and effective communication. Beyond subject mastery, I aim to equip students with transferable skillstime management, independent learning strategies, and confidence in their own abilitiesthat will serve them well in college and beyond. Whether guiding a student through complex literary analysis or providing feedback on a personal statement, my goal is always the same: to empower students to think critically, write authentically, and approach learning with curiosity and confidence. My tutoring approach is encouraging, flexible, and personalized. I meet students where they are and help them grow through conversation and reflection, thoughtful feedback, positive reinforcement, and practical skill-building. I enjoy traveling throughout the United States and Europe and have organized and escorted educational trips abroad with high school students. I’m passionate about reading and discussing books and love inspiring students to engage deeply with literature. In my free time, I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, gardening, and working on jigsaw puzzles. I also volunteer as a dog walker at a local animal shelter, which I find both grounding and rewarding.
