About Me

I am passionate about education, thinking it can change people's lives. With more than a decade of teaching experience, I have taught and trained students, helping them build up their skills, see their strengths, organise themselves, and strategize their time so that they can succeed and master the subjects and their university lives confidently. My teaching philosophy is synergistic with the students' needs and desires. I have a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and an Advanced Certificate in Women and Gender Studies from SUNY Empire State College where I also earned my undergraduate degree in History and Culture. I have a keen interest in history and writing and love to help students think about history as a means to understand the present and to write as a way to develop and share their own unique voices. I hold strong subject knowledge and experience in history, writing, English, literature and social sciences and would love to help you through any class that you are in. Additionally to teaching, I create and lead anti-oppression and DEI trainings with various nonprofits and religious institutions. I enhance my advocacy for equity and justice in education when I work as a tutor, assisting my students with learning organization and providing prep for standardized exams (queer terminology, history, English, literature, social sciences, etc.). I tutor because I believe education can and should be liberating. As an adaptive, patient, and improvisational teacher, I emphasize how-to exercises, constructive feedback and encouragement, and practical application.
