I'm a proud alum of Missouri State University, where I earned my Master of Arts in Communication and Public Relations back in 2008. But my learning journey didn't stop thereI also snagged a graduate certificate in Writing for Television and Film because, hey, who doesn't love a good story? But my heart yearned for the familiar sights of academia, so I made my return to the hallowed halls of Missouri State University and Southwest Baptist University. For a glorious decade and a half, I had the privilege of sharing my passion for Communication and Media Studies with eager minds at the college level, all while moonlighting as a substitute teacher in secondary schools. Yet, as life often does, it threw a delightful curveball my wayI discovered the unparalleled joy of molding young minds, particularly in the realm of English language arts. My teaching philosophy? It's simple yet profound: I champion progress over perfection. I firmly believe that every student is capable of greatness, given the right encouragement and guidance. Through my years in the classroom, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of nurturing strong communication skills. Whether it's dissecting Shakespearean sonnets or crafting persuasive essays, I'm a firm believer that these abilities are the bedrock of success, no matter what dreams a student may harbor for their future.

My interests include: my two corgis, Kevin and Stella, doing hair (I'm also a licensed Cosmetologist), and spending time with my niece and nephew. I spend a fair amount of my free time working on my own writing pursuits and reading.
