I have been tutoring for over 10 years and find absolute joy in tutoring as I am able to help students overcome obstacles, difficulties, meet goals, and be challenged. After leaving the traditional classroom teaching setting for tutoring I also became an outdoor forest educator and love to discuss the outdoors. I love to teach children about the outdoors and the environment and get into how science works. Even when I tutor in reading and math when a kid asks why they made an error like flipping a number or letter this is such a fun opportunity to talk briefly about how the brain works and open up that door into science. I have experience working with dyslexia and dyscalcula when tutoring in reading and math. I have experience tutoring in math from preschool through Algebra 2. I love working with students in math and seeing how they light up when it finally clicks. I enjoy math myself as I see it as a puzzle or game just waiting to be solved. I also have experience tutoring in reading, writing, and grammar in preschool through elementary school. These topics can be difficult and frustrating for so many or lack confidence that sometimes they need someone to cheer them along the way and be willing to try various things to figure out what tactic works for them.
