I am an astute, highly motivated, and goal-oriented individual with successful experiences in both academia and athletics. I am also an effective communicator, who is very much excited to pass down my knowledge to students.

I am a graduate of Alexandria University, with a B.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering. In addition, I received a Ph.D. degree from University at Buffalo, Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, in 2015. During that time, I have been working as a teaching assistant and a co-instructor for both undergrad and graduate students, for a broad range of subjects; including: applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, mechanics, and programming. In addition, as a part-time, I have been a private tutor for middle- and high-school students for over 5 years.

I am an aspiring applied mathematician, with particular interest in image processing and climate science. I graduated in May 2017 from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's in physics and mathematics, and am beginning a PhD program in September 2017 at the University of Chicago in Computational and Applied Mathematics. I've tutored introductory physics students for three years and enjoyed it thoroughly, as a chance to help other students while revisiting fundamental concepts to enhance my own knowledge. I'm eager to continue reaching out and helping students of math and physics to succeed and, furthermore, to appreciate the beauty and power of these subjects.

I am a rising senior at Harvard College pursuing an AB in Government. Academically, I have diverse interests, including history, language, math, physics, philosophy, music, and politics. In high school, I tutored elementary, middle, and high school students in music, math, ACT and SAT prep, and Spanish. At Harvard, I spent a year as a course assistant in the math department, helping to teach introductory undergraduate calculus. Currently, I volunteer with the Leadership Institute at Harvard College (LIHC) as part of its Social Outreach Committee. This work involves teaching a weekly course called "Fundamentals of Leadership" to a class of middle school students. Overall, I have found my experiences tutoring math to be the most rewarding.

I am an energetic tutor with an abundance of tutoring experience in a broad range of subjects. As a biology major at Washington University in St. Louis, I am well-versed in chemistry, biology, physics and calculus. I have privately tutored elementary through high school students in these areas of study, as well as algebra, trigonometry and geometry. However, my academic interests are not limited to math and science. My true academic passion is for French language and literature, which is my second major at my university. I developed this passion at a young age, but mastered the language during my semester abroad in a language-immersion program in Toulouse, France.

I am currently conducting breast cancer research as the lab manager in an immunology lab at Columbia University Medical Center. I am extremely comfortable with physics and mathematics (from my studies) as well as biology, chemistry, and biochemistry (through my research experience) and sincerely enjoy tutoring students in those areas. I also enjoy tutoring for standardized tests. While I was studying for the SAT, ACT, and MCAT, all of my preparation was through self-study; as a result, I have a unique approach to preparing for tests that emphasizes knowing the test itself more than the actual material. In addition to tutoring natural sciences and standardized test prep, I tutor Spanish, which I studied for 7 years and spoke for a year while living in Spain. In my spare time, I play guitar, cook for my friends, read, and play with my cat Suki.

I'm Rob! I graduated from Duke University in 2016 with a double major in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Economics. I've been a math teacher in the DOE for the last 2 years and have a Master's of Arts in Teaching. I specialize in high school math and test prep for the ACT, SAT, and GRE.

I am currently a senior at Stony Brook University, and a physics and computer science double-major. I hail from the town of Clarence, New York, a suburb of Buffalo. I enjoy tutoring in part because of my affinity for the subjects that I'll be teaching, but the primary reason is that I like working with people and forming interpersonal connections.

I am a 2016 alumna of Cornell University, graduating summa cum laude in Anthropology with a minor in Global Health. I am a Master of Architecture candidate at Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Colgate University. While I tutor several subjects, I am very passionate about mathematics and physics because of the tangible progress which I am able to help students achieve, and I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities. I have been a mathematics and physics tutor for the last eight years and have worked with students enrolled in middle school, high school, and university courses. I am now a playwriting MFA at NYU, one of the best programs in the country (the story of how I transitioned from physics to theater is pretty funny and I???m happy to share it). While my intensive study of advanced Math and Physics helps me tutor those subjects, I find my theater skills are just as valuable to effective teaching. As a playwright, I have learned to explain ideas efficiently, inspire excitement, and connect with an audience. Using these techniques, I hope to make my students not only better at individual subjects, but also help them fall in love with the beauty of new ideas.

I am currently working in a biochemistry lab at NYU Medical Center and applying to medical school, with hopes of training to be a pediatric surgeon in the future. I have worked as a teaching assistant for a Columbia biology lab course, taught ESL to immigrants from China, and tutored extensively in math, science, and test prep. I especially enjoy tutoring science because I believe that sometimes a little bit of personalized attention can go a long way when students are missing just one or two key points of understanding. I love seeing a concept click and inspiring confidence in my students as they advance through increasingly difficult topics. I also like tutoring test prep because there is no hiding behind the raw numbers, and I enjoy helping my students maximize their potential and achieve their goal scores. Sometimes, a little motivation is all that is needed for a student to excel, and I always work to relate what I am tutoring to a student's interests, both academic and extra-curricular. I rowed varsity crew for three years in high school and one year at Columbia; I also love learning new languages, exploring New York's culinary scene, and (attempting to) recreate some of the dishes on my own!

I'm a Ph.D. candidate in the Computer Science department at Stony Brook University. I have got strong background and substantial teaching experience in Computer Science and Mathematics. Right now I'm interested in tutoring Maths and Computer Science for high school students, college, and university students.

I am a physician in training, living in New York City. I was born and grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I lived in both Israel and Denmark growing up. I went to the University of Pennsylvania for college, where I majored in history and completed the pre-med curriculum. I graduated from Penn cum laude and went on to medical school at Tufts University in Boston. I went on to complete my internship and residency in internal medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. I continue to live in New York and am now completing a fellowship (speciality training) in gastroenterology on Long Island.

I am a chemical engineering student at Cornell University. I enjoy learning math and science and want to share my passion for these subjects. I have experience working as a sleep-away camp counselor and enjoyed those summers. I also have prior tutoring experience at the high school level.

I'm Susanna, a third-year physics major and electrical engineering minor at UC Berkeley. I am a senior at New York University studying Finance, Statistics, and Computer Science. I have been tutoring for almost five years at the high school and test prep level and I love the mentoring experience! I believe whole-heartedly in a multi-faceted approach to learning and strive for depth of practice as well as breadth of knowledge. I am well trained in all of the subjects I have listed on my profile, whether through tutoring experience or academic and professional exploration. High school sciences have been a strength of mine since taking the AP exams in high school. Through tutoring, I have kept up to date with changes in the exam and curriculum. I am currently a sophomore at Columbia University in the City of New York. I am pursuing a degree in Earth and Environmental Engineering with a concentration in Sustainability and Energy, and I am minoring in East Asian Studies (specifically, Japanese). I'm currently a medical student. Working as a part of Varsity Tutors is my first formal experience as a tutor but as the oldest of three siblings, I guess you can say that I started work at a young age :)

I am a 23-year-old Columbia graduate with a real passion for teaching. I have been a tutor in both professional and volunteer capacities for nearly 10 years and have taught students ranging in age from second and third grade through college. I have classroom teaching experience as well and can adapt to both group and individual settings. I have taught students of all abilities in a wide variety of subjects. There is no confusion too small or problem too complicated that I cannot help with if not solve. I am exceptionally dedicated to my students; ensuring that they not simply memorize concepts or regurgitate facts but truly understand the material. I ask them to defend their answers which teaches them that the correct response is often less important than the reasoning used to reach said response. I honestly believe that anyone can learn anything given enough time and patience. I try my best to not only be a teacher but also a role model to my students and to interact with them as people not just clients. I am currently a graduate student at Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester conducting research in Biophysical Chemistry. I recently graduated in June 2017 from the University of California - Irvine with two Bachelor degrees. One was in Biomedical Engineering and the other was in Materials Science and Engineering. With two engineering degrees, I feel comfortable working with students in all realms of Math and Science.

I am working as a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Physics Creighton University, and am stationed at Brookhaven National Laboratory, New York. I also function as an adjunct associate professor of physics at Hofstra University. I started tutoring physics back in my home country, Sri Lanka, during my Bachelors degree. Since then I have been involved in tutoring with high school, freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior students. The strongest reason why I am an excellent teacher is the fact that I truly love the subject. I am a graduate from Cornell University where I received a bachelor's degree in Biological Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. For several years, I have always had a passion for tutoring/teaching others around me whether they were children, classmates or adults much older than I. From my studies, my favorite subjects to help with were Mathematics and Physics; they are closely integrated with each other and personally it is rewarding when my students understand concepts that they initially struggled with. As for my past tutoring experience, I volunteered teaching GED courses around the Brooklyn area. I also took up private one to one sessions with locals who requested my help in subjects. Currently I am teaching an after-school program where I show middle school students STEM related topics through hands on activities. I am also volunteering with SAT Math through Brooklyn College on Saturdays and I am a part time bartender around the Park Slope area. When I am not busy working, I enjoy cycling, playing video games, and just kicking it back with friends.

I'm interested in one day becoming a doctor, but much of my work experience thus far has led me to education: working as a Spanish teaching assistant while at Bowdoin, as Education Coordinator for a middle school healthy dating curriculum in an office of the Puerto Rico Department of Health, and as a community health worker providing health education Spanish-speaking migrant farm workers, among others. I've found that effective, individual-focused education is an important component of overall health, and I hope my continued teaching experience will better inform my practice as a future physician.
