Industrial engineering coursework at Oakland University had Carly building and optimizing mathematical models daily — the same polynomial, exponential, and trigonometric functions that form the backbone of AP Pre-Calculus, applied to real systems like production scheduling and quality control. She zeros in on helping students move past rote computation to actually interpreting what a function's rate of change or end behavior is telling them, which is where the AP exam separates strong scores from average ones. Her teaching assistant experience in college means she's practiced at catching the specific algebraic missteps that derail students mid-problem.

I have a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, with additional graduate studies in Chemical Engineering and Computer Science, and over 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring STEM subjects. I work with students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning styles in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and related subjects. I believe the best tutoring starts with understanding how each student thinks. My goal is to identify where a concept becomes unclear, explain it from the student's perspective, and help them build both understanding and confidence. I want my students to learn not just how to find the right answer, but why it is the right answer and how to approach similar problems independently. I believe there is always learning in teaching, and that is one of the reasons I continue to enjoy working with students after all these years.
I am a career Mathematics teacher, specializing in IB AA and AI, both at the SL and HL levels. If I have to sum up my professional life, I would say the following about my experience: Examiner with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for Higher Level (AA) Mathematics. Massachusetts State Teaching Certification: Licensed to teach Mathematics (6-12). Massachusetts State Teaching Certification: Licensed to teach Physics. Training: IB (Physics), IT (Industry). MBA in Finance. BS in Pure and Applied Mathematics. Diverse Classroom Experience spanning over 30 years teaching in USA, China, UAE, Qatar, Syria and Egypt within the IB (Analysis and Approaches as well as Applications and Interpretations), IGCSE and US HS (including AP) Diploma curricula. Multilingual capability with fluency in English and Urdu, and in Hindi. Familiarity with various world cultures and their values; well- traveled in Far East, South Asia, Middle East, North Africa, Europe and North America. I will be most happy to expand on any of the above as needed.
Hi there, I'm Piyush, a freshmen at Oregon state university. I believe every student has the capacity to master complex topics and build confidence in themselves given enough time and the right tools. I do just that and teach my students how to think instead of what to think. I use analogies, visual indicators and various different explanations to teach a concept so it sticks. I am dynamic enough to change my tutoring style based on the kind of student I am teaching, whether it be direct or patient depending on the mindset of the student. I constantly review the change I am causing in the students with consistent skill-checks and mini-quizzes where I have the student explain the concept back to me to check their understanding. Overall, I am focused on creating the best tutoring experience for my students which includes keeping up with the curriculum myself. I am constantly studying advanced topics to make sure my explanations are as accurate as possible.
Being a math and physics major at MIT means Bereket doesn't just know the polynomial, trigonometric, and exponential models in AP Pre-Calculus — he uses them as building blocks in courses that assume total fluency. He teaches the course by slowing down at the exact moments where students lose the thread, particularly when function composition and transformations shift from mechanical steps to questions about behavior and interpretation. That patience with conceptual understanding over formula memorization is what makes his approach click for students preparing for the AP exam.
Hi! I'm Kavya, and I'm passionate about helping students build confidence and succeed in school. I tailor each lesson to a student's learning style, making concepts clear, engaging, and easy to understand. I specialize in math, from elementary concepts to algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, calculus, and college-level courses, focusing on true understanding rather than memorization. I also tutor English, reading, writing, grammar, homework support, study skills, organization, and test preparation. My sessions are patient, supportive, and interactive, creating a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions. Whether a student needs extra help, wants to improve grades, or wants to get ahead, I provide personalized lessons that build strong academic skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Having earned a BS in Biology with High Honors from New Mexico State, Kayley knows the math-science pipeline firsthand — AP Pre-Calculus concepts like exponential growth models and trigonometric cycles showed up constantly in her genetics and ecology coursework. She leans into that cross-disciplinary angle, using real biological scenarios to make abstract function behavior feel concrete. Her approach zeroes in on building the graphical intuition the AP framework rewards, especially around transformations and end behavior.
I love helping people! Whether it's learning math, writing, reading, etc. or playing sports, I really enjoy seeing other succeed via my assistance. I try to relate to students in whatever they enjoy and in doing so, apply concepts to our like interests to work through difficult subjects as well as to help foster a good, professional relationship. I have tutored several students in both math and English in the past and they have enjoyed resounding success and continue to reach out for my assistance. I look forward to working with and meeting many students and parents while helping them succeed in any way I can. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy playing sports (golf, basketball, softball, volleyball), playing with my dog, and hanging out with my wife. In addition, I am a meteorologist and oceanographer following my graduation at Penn State University with a BS in Meteorology. Finally, I am presently a student at MIT pursuing a Master's degree in Physical Oceanography.
Studying Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Planetary Science at Florida Institute of Technology, Matthew uses trigonometric and exponential models to describe everything from stellar luminosity curves to orbital dynamics — the same function families AP Pre-Calculus builds its entire framework around. He teaches composition and transformation questions by walking students through what's actually happening to a function's shape and why, drawing on the physical intuition that comes from applying these tools to real systems daily. His experience tutoring college peers in calculus and advanced physics means he can pinpoint exactly where a student's algebraic reasoning needs tightening before the AP exam.
One of the most important things in tutoring math is to make sure students understand why a mathematical procedure works, not just how to do it. When student know how to do the procedure, but don't understand why it works, they will forget the procedure or misapply it, or worse, they may begin to hate math, not because they can't do it, but because they don't understand its relevance.
Hi, I'm Laura! I graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor's of science degree in mathematics and a minor in sociology. There, I earned the Frances B. Huston award, the most prestigious award given to graduating students, for excellence in academics, leadership, and community service. From there, I became a student at the University of Washington (UW), earning my Master of Science in Applied Mathematics and a position as a PhD student in the department. I was also awarded the Carl S. Pearson award for academic excellence in the Master's program. I have been working as a PhD student since then, with expertise in all types of math including algebra, calculus, linear algebra, and numerical analysis, among others. I also have years of experience coding in both python and matlab! I spent three years as an undergraduate teaching assistant, helping teach both high school and college level math classes. I also taught multiple sections of calculus at the University of Washington as a Master's student, and I have served as a teaching assistant throughout my time at UW. My favorite thing about these positions were the opportunities to work one-on-one with students, developing new approaches to help them understand difficult concepts. I love coming up with new examples or intuitive ways of thinking through math problems. I think everybody can learn math, and I love helping students of all ages and backgrounds achieve their mathematical goals! I have a number of resources to use in lesson planning, and I also welcome any resources or suggestions provided by students and parents to help tailor the experience to your needs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session!

From coding to calculus, I can help you bridge the gap between confusion and mastery. Let's get to work!
Designing rocket trajectories and orbital models in his Aerospace Engineering program at UT Austin meant Pranad lived inside the trigonometric, polynomial, and exponential functions that AP Pre-Calculus is built around — they weren't textbook abstractions but tools for predicting how things move through space. He teaches the course by anchoring each function family to that intuition, especially when students hit the conceptual jump from computing answers to interpreting what a model's behavior actually means. His emphasis on connecting algebraic manipulation to graphical reasoning lines up directly with what the AP framework rewards.
I am excited to help students further their education through tutoring. I believe that any student can succeed as long as they are given access to a teaching style that they understand, and that is what I am striving to provide.
