My mission is to instill a love of learning in students by providing them with the necessary tools to succeed. I have over a decade of experience teaching in the classroom and providing tutoring in a broad range of subjects. In 2005 I graduated from New Saint Andrews College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts in Culture (Summa Cum Laude). Following this, I taught at a small high school for five years, providing instruction in many subjects, including history, literature, Latin, English composition, and SAT prep. Following this, I took a break from classroom teaching (as my husband and I decided to grow our family) and pursued individual tutoring opportunities in English composition and music instruction. I am now in my third year at a small elementary school where I oversee all curriculum and provide instruction in 3rd-6th grade math, Latin, and English composition. When I'm not teaching, I write historical fiction set during the Middle Ages and the British Regency and do copy editing for a small press that my husband and I co-own.

Anatomy & Physiology Tutor • +9 Subjects
I started my journey while in high school, I took my first anatomy and physiology class and discovered that I wanted a career that would allow me to work with the human body. I was mostly interested in dentistry and orthodontics until I hurt my back in an offseason football workout. After I went to my Chiropractor I realized the importance of the structure of the spine and the function of the central nervous system. While in college I was named captain of our rugby team and enjoyed helping other learn and work together. I was a teacher assistant for an anatomy and physiology class during my time at Fairfield University. I continued my passion of helping others while at Palmer College of Chiropractic where I tutored the first quarter students in general anatomy where I aided them in understanding the anatomy with the use of cadavers. A short while later I was named the president of a chiropractic technique club called: Gonstead Technique. I plan on using my experience and knowledge to help others reach their goals and full potential.

Currently, I am a first year student at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Although unofficial, I will most likely continue on to minor in English/Literature or Art History. My skills vary widely in terms of tutoring subjects. I am personally equipped to teach elementary school through college level courses; however, as I have a passion for literature and the arts, I specialize and do best in tutoring English, Writing, and Literature Analysis & Critique. I love to equip my students with the tools they need to succeed in and out of the classroom - there is a difference between tutoring for the test, and tutoring to expand the way a person thinks, perceives, and analyzes the world. Outside of teaching, though, I love to write and read for pleasure, as well as learn about art and art history. I also play the french horn and the trumpet!

I began working as a tutor in High School as part of the Math Club, and then continued in college in a part time position, where I helped students in College Algebra, Statistics, Calculus and Programming. After college I moved to Spain where I gave private test prep lessons to high school students and also helped friends prepare for their college entrance exams. By using my broad background in these subjects I can help students see concepts in different ways, and by enthusiastically approaching problems I can help increase the student’s interest. When I am not working or studying for Actuarial Exams, I play guitar, exercise and write computer programs.

I am a third-year law student at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and will be working as at attorney at a large corporate law firm when I graduate. I completed my undergraduate degree at NYU, double majoring in journalism and dramatic literature.I am passionate about education, specifically reading and writing, and believe my enthusiasm, organization and professionalism would make me an asset to your company. In law school, I was selected by a professor to be a teaching assistant for a Legal Writing course for 16 first-year students. I attended weekly classes, often providing input and co-teaching several classes. I also held weekly office hours, where I met with students individually and in small groups to help with their assignments, including working on their writing style and structure. In addition, I reviewed and edited students’ assignments, providing individualized feedback and advice. As a Constitutional Law teaching assistant, I co-taught weekly review sessions of over 75 students, where I explained and reviewed course material. I reviewed practice problems, coached students on proper study and reading strategies, and answered questions. I quickly learned best practices to keep all of the students engaged and focused, encouraging student participation and leading class discussions.I also volunteered with iMentor, providing one-on-one support to two high school freshman through online communication and in-person meetings. I provided structure and motivation, helping my mentees plan their future college and career goals, as well as study strategies and day-to-day organization. Working closely with my two mentees, I determined their individual communication and learning styles, as well as their strengths and weaknesses, and used this knowledge to tailor our sessions to best meet their needs. Finally, in high school, I tutored elementary school students in math and reading comprehension, helping with homework and assignment organization. I understand that every student has different academic, emotional and social needs and I am confident in my ability to help each student reach his or her potential.

Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Waltham's 14 schools with personalized tutoring support. Whether your student attends a school in the Waltham Public School District or a private institution in the area, we can match them with a tutor who understands local curriculum standards and can support their specific academic needs.
Massachusetts has rigorous academic standards, and personalized 1-on-1 instruction is highly effective at helping students master grade-level content and prepare for state assessments. Tutors work with students on the specific skills and concepts emphasized in Massachusetts curricula, whether that's building reading comprehension, strengthening math foundations, or preparing for MCAS exams.
Waltham students most commonly seek help in math, English language arts, science, and test preparation (including MCAS and SAT/ACT prep). We also support students in foreign languages, social studies, and subject-specific courses like chemistry and algebra. Varsity Tutors can match your student with an expert tutor in whatever subject they need support with.
During the first session, the tutor will assess your student's current understanding, learning style, and specific academic goals. They'll discuss what's working well and where your student needs the most support—whether that's catching up after falling behind, preparing for an upcoming test, or building confidence in a challenging subject. This foundation helps create a personalized learning plan tailored to your student's needs.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 10.3:1 in Waltham schools, classroom teachers do excellent work, but personalized 1-on-1 tutoring provides something different: focused attention on your specific student's learning gaps and strengths. Tutors can reinforce what's being taught in class, work at your student's pace, and provide extra practice on concepts that need more reinforcement.
Absolutely. Varsity Tutors works with families to find scheduling that fits their lives, whether that's after school, on weekends, or during school breaks. We also offer flexibility in session length and frequency—some students benefit from weekly sessions, while others prefer intensive support during specific times like exam prep season.
Varsity Tutors connects students with expert tutors who have strong subject knowledge and experience working with students at your child's level. Tutors are carefully selected and vetted to ensure they're equipped to help students succeed in Massachusetts classrooms and on state assessments.
Getting started is simple—just tell us about your student's academic needs, grade level, and preferred subjects. Varsity Tutors will match them with a tutor who fits those needs, and you can begin personalized sessions right away. Most families see their students feel more confident and engaged in their learning within the first few weeks.
