I'm a freshman here at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I graduated from Wayzata High, and I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in neuroscience. At the University, I'm usually in class, studying, hanging out with my friends, or at club meetings! In my free time, I love to breakdance, write poetry, debate politics and economics, and participate in practically every nerdy endeavor possible (huge Star Wars fan!!). I love to talk and will talk your ear off if you let me! I love trying new things, exploring the city, and traveling. My teaching philosophy is that teaching is a responsibility and a privilege; I'll put 110% into teaching if you put the same effort into learning. With hard work and patience, anything is possible!

My name is Francis Nguyen. I am married and have three beautiful daughters. I graduated with a Bachelor in Math Education in 2000 and a Masters in Math in 2003 from Fairfield University. I have been teaching high school for over 20 years. The subjects I have taught ranged from elementary math to Trigonometry. I love to help children learn math and succeed in math.

I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering at Kent State University. Throughout middle and high school, my access to tutors and other assistance services was limited. This in turn inhibited my learning and caused me to struggle in aspects of school that never really clicked. So I want to give others what I never got, and hopefully make learning easier to achieve. My subject of choice is math, but specifically, I tutor Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra, and Trigonometry.

I am a graduate from Yale University with a degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. An advocate for math and science education, I have become a writer and poet concerned with aesthetic philosophy since my graduation. My passion for teaching has taken on many forms, including as a music instructor, having maintained a private cello studio and conducted after-school string orchestra programs, as a running coach for youth and high school cross country and track athletes, and as a tutor in math and chemistry. At the moment, I tutor mathematics, which I believe to be an exceptionally crucial skill to develop for any academic subject and for a more intimate appreciation for the intricacies of the world. I fervently prescribe to a teaching method that promotes a unique engagement, both between student and instructor and with the subject matter, in order to impart the very human and meaningful elements residing in the material. Outside my more scholarly pursuits, I am an avid reader, a performing musician, and an amateur distance runner.

I am a student at Columbia University in New York, studying Computer Science and Biochemistry. I offer person-centered learning approaches in the subjects of ACT prep, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Spanish, English, Writing, Psychology and other areas.Outside of school, I enjoy reviewing films and novels, conducting biomedical research, exercising, and writing.

I have 17 years experience in teaching general English, IELTS, TOEFL, and other international exams. I obtained my MA 14 years ago and am currently a PhD student in English teaching. I love to share my knowledge with my students in a friendly, warm, and culturally comfortable atmosphere I create all through my classes. I am particularly good at teaching speaking and writing in a smooth and exciting way. My students receive step-wise instructions in writing and clear feedback on their work. For speaking, I mostly focus on what my students want English for. This, I believe, maximizes our class efficiency.
