I'm a educator and visual artist with many years of experience teaching and tutoring high school and college students. I have a BA in Political Science from New College of Florida and a MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. While I'm a photographer by trade, I also have a passion for and expertise in Math and the Natural Sciences -- as well as French and Spanish, having studied and worked in both Paris and Central America. While I'm proficient now, I struggled with both languages early on, and understand the challenges of both starting a new language and in moving from a conversational to a more proficient level. I'm also available for ACT and SAT test prep -- and work especially well with students who are visual learners (though I have a wide range of materials and resources for all styles of learning!).

I am proud to say that the eleven-year-old Vietnamese girl and boy that I tutored for 5 years are both attending Medical school. In addition, I am proud to say that I speak, write and read in French, English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Italian proficiently. Whenever I tell people that I speak French, they often assume that it is not my mother tongue language because I have no accent in English. I am always proud to say that I did not know how to speak English until I was 16 years of age. Learning a language is like cracking a secret code. Once you decode it, the treasure is yours.

I am a highly dedicated, creative, and passionate educator with a Master of Arts in Teaching Foreign Languages with a Major in French from the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education & Counseling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Lewis & Clark College, with whom I had a full tuition undergraduate scholarship. I have over 15 years of experience in education, including over 10 years of experience teaching French. I earned my 5-year FL Professional Certificate for World Language - French, Grades K-12, the highest teaching certificate the state of FL has to offer.

I am committed to serving others and guaranteeing the success of my students. My passion is helping those in need and alleviating struggle, especially with academics! I especially love working with the French language.

I am a third-year undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University studying Voice and Opera Performance with minors in Music Education and French and Francophone Studies. My ultimate goal is to become a teacher because I love working with students to help them achieve mastery of their subject(s)!

As a second-year medical student with a strong foundation in science and a passion for education, I specialize in making tough subjects easier to understand. I am a graduate of the Ohio State University, where I completed a BA summa cum laude in linguistics and Romance studies with specializations in French, Spanish, and Italian. I then completed a JD at Cornell University, where I used my language skills to focus on international and comparative law, as well as developing particular skills in criminal law and general trial advocacy. In addition, I spent a year in France at the Universit Paris 1 Panthon-Sorbonne, where I obtained an LLM (master of laws) in French, European, and international law. Outside of academia, I have worked as a document translator and an in-court interpreter in both French and Spanish and have worked directly with French- and Spanish-speaking clients in legal and financial settings. As an undergraduate student, I was French-language liaison to the Modern Languages and Cultures Undergraduate Council, in which position I oversaw tutoring sessions, organized conversation and culture hours, and represented the interests of Francophone students and French learners at Council meetings. In addition, I co-directed an outreach program to local elementary schools, teaching both French and Spanish to children in grades K-4. On the legal side, I have worked in immigration, contract, family, and criminal law, and have been a teaching assistant for legal courses and served as a graduate-student mentor for pre-law students.

I am a lifelong francophile who has lived in Paris, France for almost a year. I am also an avid NCAA men's and women's basketball fan! Go Rams! Go Terps!

I'm New York City born and raised. I graduated from the University of Chicago last year with a degree in East Asian Languages and Civilizations. I am developing my own teaching methods to evolve traditional East Asian and French language acquisition, and to do this I need even more experience. My course of study has been directed at learning as much as I can about the culture, economy, and history of East Asia, China and Japan in particular. I view myself as someone who is entrepreneurial, collegial, individually motivated to produce high quality work, as well as foster a love of the subject which I teach. I am compassionate and enjoy working with both children and adults. I believe I have something to learn from everyone I meet.

Pursuing a degree in French with plans to specialize in French-English translation, Sarah brings a translator's ear to AP French prep — she teaches students to stop converting English thoughts word by word and instead build sentences that sound naturally French, which is exactly what graders reward on the interpersonal and presentational tasks. Her English minor also sharpens her ability to pinpoint where interference between the two languages causes errors in register, syntax, and idiomatic phrasing.

Conducting PhD research on West African music at Harvard, Sarah uses French as a working language for fieldwork, academic reading, and professional communication. She brings that real-world fluency to AP French prep, drilling students on the interpretive listening passages and persuasive essay prompts that carry the most weight on exam day.

Computer engineering majors don't usually double-major in French — but Sasha did, which means her fluency was built through rigorous academic study alongside native-level coursework rather than casual exposure. She tackles the AP French exam's cultural comparison and persuasive essay tasks with the same structured precision she applies to engineering problems, breaking down how to deploy subjunctive constructions and formal register under timed conditions.

I am an educator and artist with a passion for languages. I have experience teaching in both Minneapolis and Paris, and I have tutored in K-12 core subject matters - math, science, language arts, and social studies. I have my Master's of Education from the University of Minnesota in Second Languages and Cultures with a narrow focus on English as a Second Language. I am fluent in French and have an intermediate level in Spanish and Arabic. My main goals when working with students is to meet them where they are at in their learning, as well as use creative ways to make knowledge accessible. When I'm not teaching, I am spending time outside, reading up and working on anti-oppression, and watching movies. I am also a novice herbalist and astrologer, and hope to dedicate more time in learning about our plan(t)cestors and how they help with healing.
