Staying Safe on the Scene

Before helping anyone, EMRs must check for dangers like fire, traffic, chemicals, or unstable structures.

The Scene Size-Up

  • Observe surroundings: Look for hazards.
  • Number of Patients: Count how many people need help.
  • Mechanism of Injury: Figure out what happened.
