About Me

Educational Background I am a dedicated educator with a Bachelor of Arts in Education/Special Education from Arizona State University. I pursued further education with a Master of Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix. Recently, I completed a doctoral program in education with an emphasis on behavioral health and Christian ministry from Grand Canyon University. My academic journey has equipped me with a robust foundation in educational practices and a deep understanding of students' diverse needs. Professional Experience With over 35 years of teaching experience in Special Education, I have had the privilege of working with students from Pre-K to age 22. My teaching philosophy emphasizes encouraging intrinsic thinking and fostering an environment where students can think creatively. I am passionate about designing specialized teaching methods tailored to individual learners, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed. Passion for Reading and Storytelling Reading has always been a passion of mine. I have tutored dyslexic children, conducted dyslexia testing, and advocated for literacy. I love sharing stories and bringing them to life through animated storytelling. Watching students become excited about reading and learning is one of my greatest joys as an educator. Medical Background In addition to my educational endeavors, I have owned a business in the medical field, providing services such as drug screens, wellness exams, DNA collections, phlebotomy, EKGs, and comprehensive medical history evaluations. My medical education from East Tennessee State University enhances my ability to understand and support the learning processes of my students, particularly those with unique needs. Personal Interests Beyond the classroom, I have traveled extensively across Europe, pet sitting and indulging my love for animals. I have a deep appreciation for nature and enjoy watching birds, as well as caring for puppies, kittens, horses, and other animals. My sense of humor, coupled with my enthusiasm for engaging with students, allows me to create a lively and inclusive learning environment. I also enjoy tutoring students who are slow learners or those who struggle with reading and math, helping them build confidence and self-esteem. In my spare time, I listen to music, read novels, care for pets, garden, nurture house plants, and engage in crafts, poems, and short stories. Conclusion As an educator, I am captivated by this generation of learners and am continually inspired by their experiences and perspectives on the world.
