I taught in Memphis, TN for almost 13 years. My first year was in 5th grade and my remaining years were with kindergarten students. I have a deep desire to help young learners discover their ability to read and understand with meaning. I obtained my Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis and then went on to complete my Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy. I'm currently a professionally licensed educator in the state of Tennessee. My experience is valuable to young readers, as I have strong skillsets in pinpointing strengths and weakness with readers of many ages. My expertise allows me to drive instruction to meet students' individual needs where they are and build on their prior knowledge. I believe that every child has the ability to build and grow their literacy skills and become lifelong learners. My expertise would focus on building strong foundations in the pillars of literacy: Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.

My interests and hobbies include writing and reading, shopping, family game nights, arts and crafts, listening to all kinds of music and going to new places.
