Study of celestial objects, space, and the physical universe.
Study Strategies
Observing the Night Sky
Learning by Looking Up
The best way to learn astronomy is to get outside and observe! Start by finding bright stars and constellations. Use a star chart or an app to help you identify what you see. Even with just your eyes, you can spot planets, the Moon’s phases, and meteor showers.
Make It a Habit
Keep a sky journal to track what you see each night, and try to notice how the sky changes with the seasons.
Examples
Sketch the positions of the Moon and planets in your journal.
Join a local astronomy club to use a telescope and meet other space enthusiasts.
