Michelle
Certified Tutor
I am excited to get to know students and their interests, dreams and goals and then help them achieve some of those goals. I have experience in both high school and college teaching. In my over 25 years as a college English teacher I very frequently tutored students one on one. I first started tutoring as a graduate student when I worked in the writing center at Marquette University. I eventually earned my PhD in American literature from there. While I do love talking with students about literature, my favorite subject to tutor is English composition because those skills help students in all subject areas. My teaching philosophy is that every student can make progress regardless of where their skill level is at to begin. My tutoring style is to understand each student's needs and then make learning active and engaging while we develop his or her skills. Outside of education, I'm interested in travel and learning about other cultures.

I love to travel and to meet new people, see different landscapes, and eat a variety of cuisines. I also like to read, to bake, and I'm trying to get myself to write more often.
