Certified Tutor

I started tutoring because I want to use my knowledge and experience to help students in all stages of their journey learn to love the sciences and achieve their highest potential. I have taught at the university level for over a year, and have had the opportunity to practice this with my students. Through tutoring, I aim to branch out even further and show new students that science can be exciting, interesting, and something everyone can understand! After graduating with my Master of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, I realized I could not have made it there without the many mentors, teachers, and tutors that helped me along the way. I was not always focused on science and academia, especially in high school. However, it was a tutor that showed me a unique way of approaching science, and I have carried that with me ever since. Coming into college with little background in science, I understand what it is like to build from the ground up - starting with a strong foundation before moving to more complex subjects. I know how intimidating certain subjects can be, but I believe my detailed understanding of these subjects has prepared me to explain them in a way that is easy to understand. I have taught everything from BIO 101 to Biochemistry. I specialize in more complex subjects such as Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Organic Chemistry, and especially MCAT training. I scored in the top quartile in both the Bio/Biochem and Chem/Phys sections of the MCAT, and know the structure of the test as well as strategies to succeed on the MCAT. However, I am proficient in various other subjects such as General Biology, General Chemistry, Physics, Genetics, and Microbiology! My academic success and unique journey both demonstrate my ability to help students understand the sciences in their own unique way, regardless of where you are at in your journey!
