What is your teaching philosophy?
There is beauty in life's intricacies. From the leaf hanging on the tree to the neurons in our brain, the intricacies are worth exploring and understanding. My goal is to pique my student's curiosity so that they can possibly see some of that beauty.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Asses their strengths, weaknesses and needs by talking to them and inspecting their notes or completed assignments.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Firstly, by modeling my thought process. Secondly, teaching them thought process methods in steps. Lastly, having them practice the thought process independently.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Remind them of the possible value in relation to what interests them.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Teach it a different way.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I'll teach them different reading comprehension techniques until we find one that works for them.
