I tutor middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, ACT English, and ACT math.
I hold a Master of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from Mississippi State University (MSU) and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). I began tutoring math my second year of college and have done so since. Although I began tutoring intermediate and college algebra, I have since tutored a much broader scope of high school and college mathematics. Since graduate school, I have taught high school pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus at a local public high school and in my own private home school. My home school students went on to college with up to 100% academic scholarships. I occasionally tutored middle school math and ACT prep for family and friends with exceptional success.
Now that I have retired from the classroom full-time, I am continuing my passion of helping students learn. I use humor, color, and probing questions to help my students discover that they are very capable of navigating the mental acrobatics of mathematics. Every person can grasp the concepts necessary to succeed given the proper learning tools and environment. When I am not teaching, I can usually be found in my herb and vegetable garden, on my exercise mat, or in my kitchen cooking nutritious meals.
