I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Lubbock Christian University in 2014. I am certified to teach Early Childhood through 6th Grade. Since graduating, I have taught 1st Grade for 3 years. At this school, I taught English Language Arts and Reading, as we were departmentalized. I also had the honor of receiving the Teacher of the Year award! Then in 2017, my husband and I moved to Okinawa, Japan where I taught 3rd Grade for just over 3 years on a military base. There in Okinawa, I was the team leader of 10 Third Grade teachers and I taught all subjects: Math, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Health. I was also an after-school Art Teacher, because why not!
One of my greatest strengths as an educator is meeting each student's unique needs by developing a personal understanding of each one of them. I achieve this by seeing and assessing the students as individuals and differentiating my lesson plans to accommodate multiple intelligences. My goal is to increase student motivation, awareness, and understanding while implementing interdisciplinary-based lessons involving social studies, science, mathematics, language arts, and multiculturalism. Of course, I do this all while having lots of fun!
