I am a senior at the Georgia Institute of Technology studying Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. I'm originally from Georgia but have also lived in Texas, Indiana, and California throughout my childhood. My all time favorite things to do are yoga and working in the garden during the summertime, but I also love to bake, paint, and read. In terms of academics, I've always been very drawn to academic research and have worked in a lab developing vaccines for various infectious diseases and in another lab studying the metabolism of breast cancer. I plan on pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering after I graduate.
I have always loved teaching, and was involved in peer-tutoring programs throughout high school, helping students in various subjects ranging from math to science to French. In college, I started assisting professors in teaching core chemical engineering classes, and have taught review sessions to classrooms of 40+ students in classes including Thermodynamics and Transport Phenomena (Fluid Mechanics). I also get the chance to do one-on-one tutoring with students when they need it and it is truly an enjoyable experience to help them understand and see it translate in their work and on exams.
My teaching philosophy is completely student-driven. I believe that the best way to learn is to really push through a problem, no matter how difficult, and have the student work out the steps with guidance from me as necessary. Showing the student how they would think without the guidance is key to identifying where mistakes are made and change their operational philosophy to reflect the changes they need to make to better approach any problem. With my experience as both a learner and a teacher, I truly believe that working through the thought process really eliminates the chance of making the same mistake again. I am definitely here to provide support and positive reinforcement and help you meet all of your goals. Having difficulty in school or standardized tests can be a very challenging thing to deal with and I will do my best to help you overcome those struggles and come out on the other side with a positive attitude and success in the books!
