Education is my passion. Finding ways to make students love learning is my mission.
I graduated from Middle Georgia State University. I have a degree in Early and Special Childhood education. In my teaching career, I have taught 1st, 5th, and now I am currently teaching 4th grade. I have offered tutoring for students either on my own or as a part of a program with the school. I have worked with students one on one in these moments to work with them in areas that they were struggling in or they could improve in. I have taught and tutored all elementary subjects.
My favorite subject to tutor is reading. I love to see a student go from struggling, or hating to read, to loving it and asking for more book recommendations. I also enjoy tutoring math and seeing a student grasp the concept and get the answer right and grin with pride when it "clicks".
My tutoring style is to work with the student using topics that interest him or her. I want to make the student love learning, so I take their interest and use that in the sessions.
Outside of teaching, I love animals, reading, kayaking or really anything outdoors, and music. I sing and play the guitar when I can and I am also learning the ukulele and other instruments. I always love to keep learning.
Being from a small town and making the transition to a larger city and teaching has shown me a variety of students and learning styles. I love getting to meet new students and making connections between things they love and things that interest them, to the subjects that they are struggling with. I love learning and I love making students love learning as well!
