I am a graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University where I have received my Bachelor of Arts in chemistry. Throughout my undergraduate education I have conducted experimental and computational research on a particular topic of chemistry that led me to do a senior thesis. Since graduation, I have been applying to master programs that involve continuing my studies in chemistry. I have mentored at Latinas On Verge of Excellence where I helped immigrant high school Latinas in the Bronx to improve on their English and to improve on subjects that they were struggling in. I have tutored subjects such as math, science, and Spanish in High School. Spanish is the second language I have learned when growing up. My family are Latinos so I am fluent in this language. Being the first in my family to graduate from college, I do believe that an education is absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life. I will use positive encouragement to promote confidence and step-by-step guidance in tackling a problem. I will asses the student's strength and weakness in order to give them practice problems that can help them master a subject such as math, science, and Spanish. In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good book that enriches my life. I also enjoy helping out in the animal shelter and crafting cards.
