I have a Master's in Education from George Mason University. I've been a special education teacher in the public and private school setting for over 17 years. I love teaching and learning diverse students and adult learners who are dedicated to education improvement. I've worked with learning disability and emotional disability students. I have a passion for assisting students with exploring their educational potential. I'm currently working towards a doctorate degree in higher education and I have my own unique story of education achievement! My personal story evolves around my life as a high school drop-out, to becoming a nationally awarded teaching professional and education advocate.
I think like my students do, especially the ones with learning disabilities or difficulties. I have an ability to challenge my students in a fun and thoughtful manner that keeps them motivated. It's easy for me to connect with middle school/ high school and and adult learners; My enthusiasm and cheerful demeanor is contagious!
I also have been named Northern Virginian of the Year in 2013 , received a national teaching excellence award that's only given to five teachers across the country each year in 2013, became a state teacher of the year, and received a GED lifetime achievement award! I Love what I do!
I'm humorous, laid back, yet will challenge students to want to become more!
