I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. I spent the last ten years living in California. I've also lived in New York City and Orlando. I played softball and soccer from a young age into adulthood. I really enjoy nature and activities in nature. I've always loved to volunteer in as many ways as possible.
In college I volunteered to teach science lessons in elementary classes with a program called Bay Area Scientists In Schools (BASIS). At my orientation it was said that children like the same things scientists do: explosions, lasers and robots. I feel like that makes my job as a tutor much more effective since I can relate and excite students in science. I am passionate about tutoring people in science because I am passionate about science and science education. Our lives are increasingly affected by science and technology so the more educated we are the better decisions we can make.
I am experienced in tutoring chemistry, biology, physics and math. I have tutored high school and college level students. I worked for Upward Bound Math & Science as an instructor for a trailblazing class I created that allowed the students hands on experience doing laboratory work in physics and chemistry at UC Berkeley. I have also tutored for years in college level general chemistry, organic chemistry and biology both lectures and laboratories.
I studied at the College of Chemistry at UC Berkeley the best school in the world for chemistry. My B.S. is in chemical biology so I have solid experience in a variety of biology and chemistry classes. I took the calculus classes as well as linear algebra and differential equations. I applied these math classes to study thermodynamics and quantum mechanics. I am currently in the process of applying to medical school.
