I have a master's degree in Shakespeare and classical acting from George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in theatre with honors from Butler University. I have been a teaching playwriting, theatre skills, and literacy through the arts and working with students and children for almost ten years. I also teach English as a second language online to students in China! My goal as a teacher is not just for my students to master the necessary skills, but to truly engage with the material and have fun with the learning process! I work with students to help them realize the power of their own minds, voices, and abilities. I have worked with all kinds of students of diverse ages and backgrounds, in one on one settings in person, in large classrooms, and in online environments. I have first hand experience in understanding that each student is unique and requires something different from a teacher. The individual student's needs are always at the center of my teaching philosophy. While I teach a variety of subjects, I am deeply passionate about critical reading, literature, and writing. I often teach Shakespeare to students who think they don't like it at first - how fantastic it is when they are able to connect to the material and realize what fun it really is! As a teacher I am inspiring, rigorous, creative, and a good listener. In addition to being a teacher I am also a professional actor and have started a theatre company in Cincinnati! I love physical fitness and yoga and recently completed my 200hr teacher training to be certified by the Yoga Alliance. I enjoy being outside, cooking, and playing with my cat!
