Hi! I first came into an interest in tutoring in high school. I was a senior prepping for the AP Spanish test when my high school Spanish teacher asked for volunteers to help tutor Spanish 1 and 2 students that were struggling. I loved it! I went to undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh (BA in Spanish) but with the goal of going to medical school (there is no "pre-med" major here). I tutored many students in Spanish as well as some biology and chemistry. It was great being able to help other students and remind myself of the subjects I would be taking on the MCAT soon enough. Once in medical school, I was asked to help tutor other first years (and then second years). This was very rewarding to me. My philosophy is to actually learn and understand something, not just memorize. This includes a lot of repetition, question and answer, diagramming, and explaining, but is a great way to learn. I believe that if you truly understand something, you will have it in your brain forever. I look forward to helping you "understand" whatever topic it is you are struggling with as well!
