After my first college chemistry course, I was confident that I wanted to be a chemist. All the concepts I was taught in chemistry appeared to be part of a unified whole, with each concept intimately correlated to the next. The physicality of chemistry also appealed to me: Being able to deduce a molecules reactive properties directly from its structure felt empowering. Working in a chemistry laboratory for several years also highly stimulated my interest in this particular discipline.
My passion for science and mathematics has compelled me to learn more and share what I have learned with others through teaching and tutoring. I have experience teaching and tutoring mathematics and different sciences from elementary through college. I focus on helping students understand the real world applications of the math and scientific concepts taught in the classroom. Once a clear connection has been realized, the scientific concepts make more sense to the students. This enhanced clarity helps the student to understand and master the concept.
I intend to pursue my graduate studies in chemistry to contribute to the improvement of peoples standards of living through scientific research. I personally believe in the science of sharing as well as the sharing of science with a good sense of humor.
