I am a graduate of CU Boulder's Physics program with a 3.7 GPA and graduate summa cum laude with an honors thesis. While at CU, I worked with the learning assistant program, taking classes in education and helping students succeed in their physics classes both in the classroom and in the homework help room. I have over two years experience tutoring math and science to students of all ages and substitute taught at all levels of k-12 education. I can't wait to meet you and help you succeed!
What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to teach using examples. I help students work through example problems helping less and less each time until they can complete them all by themselves without my help. I want to help students figure problems on their own rather than showing them the answer and explaining how to get their.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session, I would begin by determining where the student is in the subject and asking if they have any pressing questions about the material they are currently working on. Once we've established that, I would ask that they tell me what they want to get out of our time together and what subjects they will be covering in their classes so that I could prepare practice questions for future sessions.
