I love to help my students feel more confident in their studies and to see them succeed. We will work on the foundations to build confidence and make a surefooted progress toward their subject goals. I try to figure out what is not working for the student and try to reinforce what the student is doing well. If they don't understand one way, I look for other way to help them with what they are learning. I like helping students look for their interests and put those together to what they are learning about. I use different methods and look forward to tutoring.

Find out the student's background, interests, knowledge of the subject, and goals, as well as difficulties we will work to overcome to achieve success.

Give the student strong foundations and practice in the subject, as well as work on critical thinking skills to build confidence and independence.

Look for ways to relate the subject to the student's interests.

Use different approaches to explain and practice the skill or concept.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Practice looking for keywords; practice looking up the difficult words for the student; getting the overall picture; re-explaining the story in the student's words.
