I will be very happy to help you with your mathematical needs!
Although I am new to Varsity Tutors, I have been a math tutor for a few years. I mostly tutor high school and college students, but I am happy to assistance anyone of any age!
I have tutored in a variety of math courses ranging from remedial classes all the way up to Calculus II.
One thing I have learned as a tutor is that everyone has a different learning style. Some people learn from only seeing the problem worked out step by step while others prefer seeing a picture to go along with the problem. No matter what you're learning style is, I will be more than willing to accommodate you!
My goal is to not just help you survive your math class, but I want you to be able to THRIVE in it! That doesn't necessarily mean you have to absolutely love math, but I want to build your confidence in the subject so that you will not be afraid when it comes to taking your tests or finals.
Let's work together and make this your best math class ever!

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that each student learns in their own unique way. It is my goal to find each student's learning habits and use that knowledge to better teach them how to solve the math problem at hand.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would introduce myself and explain why I would make a good tutor for them. I would explain all of the tools available to me as a tutor to ensure the student that they have been put in good hands. As I am working with the student, I would take note of where they are confused the most and put further emphasis at explaining that particular struggle.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
The best way to help a student become an independent learner is to understand their thought processes. Every student learns and interprets things differently. By knowing how my students learn, I am able to give them a better tutoring experience because I can see what teaching methods work. With these new findings of my students, I can show them what study methods would be best for them so that they can become independent learners.
