I'm a senior at Rice University and I'm majoring in Earth Science, specializing in geophysics. I have a strong background in science and math, as well as several years' experience working with children ages 7-18. I enjoy teaching because it's like a puzzle: what's the best way to explain this concept to this student, based on his/her background knowledge and learning style.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking and taking field trips, reading, and playing on Rice's club rugby team.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My goal is to ensure that my student knows not only HOW to use a technique, but also WHY. This kind of understanding aids in applying skills to new and novel situations.
