How can a Trigonometry tutor help you?

Trigonometry was originally developed in the Middle East and eventually moved to Greece, India, Arabia, and finally Europe, through trade and immigration, similarly to algebra. It is the study of triangles and angles, and is the basis for more advanced mathematical courses, like calculus. If you are having trouble grasping the intricacies of tangents, angular distance, cofunctions, versines, trigonometric functions, or similar trigonometric concepts, Varsity Tutors can assist you in connecting with a tutor in The Woodlands who could potentially help with understanding the concepts of trigonometry.

After speaking with you about your learning goals and challenges, your tutor will gauge your proficiency, pinpoint the areas that you are struggling with, and create a personalized and targeted plan that will get you on track to finding success and achieving your goals. With our live learning platform, you will be able to meet with your tutor online, or you can meet with your tutor in person, at your home or at another location that is most convenient for you. You could not be pressured to complete your tutoring sessions in a specified timeframe, and will be provided the opportunity to work at your own pace. The targeted lesson plan will allow you to spend more time on the trigonometric concepts that confuse you the most, but you can also review material that you have already understood, at your request.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Karin in The Woodlands, TX
I am very happy to say that the student reports she went up 20 points on her last math test. She seemed pleased about that. We continue to work on her homework page each week, which is on metric measurement at this time. She is doing well and getting better with her two digit multiplication along with her multiplication facts.

The student had a test coming up on conversion of units, calculating surface area as well as volume, and measuring angles. We began by working through angles, as this was new material, and he had some questions on it. Then, we reviewed calculating surface areas and volumes. Lastly, we went over conversions. I was happy to see that he was able to quickly pick it up again and solve problems using the various formulas.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Michelle in The Woodlands, TX
We reviewed multi-digit multiplication and rules when performing basic operations with decimals. It took a few problems to get back into the swing of things but once he did, he remembered the rules and was able to show a comfort level with these types of problems. He applied his knowledge to solving word problems. We moved on to division at the end of the session.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Harry in The Woodlands, TX
The student needed to go over multiplying and dividing fractions; improper and proper fractions and mixed numbers for his final test on May 16. He really did quite well in this session with these. We went through the review in the book for the final unit which the test covered, and he did well in this. After this, we spent the rest of our time working on fraction problems. Overall, he did quite well.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Kimberly in The Woodlands, TX
The student's class has finished learning the material for this year, and they have started reviewing for the final exam. She no longer has homework assignments, so we decided to shift the focus of our sessions to studying for the final. We started by skimming the textbook and completing some problems to get a sense of what she feels most comfortable with. The first topic we looked at was factoring, but it was obvious that the student is a master of factoring. We spent the majority of the session time looking at radicals. She could easily simplify numerical square roots, so we practiced simplifying algebraic roots and solving word problems related to square roots. Since this is the student's first time studying for a major test that includes half of a year of material, we discussed some strategies she could employ. I told her the teacher is likely to pull questions from old tests and quizzes, so she plans to get together a binder of all old assessments to study from.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Michael in The Woodlands, TX
We went over the student's trigonometry test and completed his review worksheet, on which he was asked to assess why he had made specific mistakes and then correct the mistakes. In doing this, we reviewed the rules of logarithms, especially on one problem that actually involved all of them (multiplication, division, power). We also were able to correct one problem that involved differing between angular and linear movement. After that, we reviewed how to find sines, cosines, and tangents using a unit circle, which also included a review of 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles. Following that, we worked on his homework, which involved sketching the graphs of trigonometric equations. He had a good system worked out to find the bounds of one period of the function--as well as amplitude and critical points-- and sketch from there.
