How can a Trigonometry tutor help you?

Varsity Tutors' educational directors in Overland Park can locate a tutor who might help you prepare for trigonometry. Trigonometry studies the relationship between the angles and sides of triangles. It is an important aspect of geometry, as all straight-sided shapes can be broken down into a collection of triangles. Moreover, trigonometry has applications to other forms of mathematics, including calculus, complex numbers, infinite series, and logarithms. This branch of mathematics is also applicable to our lives and careers, from sports to architecture. Aerospace engineers, insurance underwriters, economists, and urban and regional planners are some of the fields that utilize trigonometry.

An experienced trigonometry tutor in Overland Park can pinpoint your problem areas and get you working towards success in the course. Through tutoring, you might improve your understanding of Thales' theorem, Ptolemy's theorem, and the Pythagorean theorem. Theorems are an important part of trigonometry. Theorems give you the opportunity to understand and identify new facts and develop your thinking skills, which are skills that will be useful in other courses you take. Tutoring can also help you understand the laws of sines and cosines, signs of trigonometry functions in quadrants, and the exact trigonometric functions for selected acute angles.

Session Summaries by Trigonometry Tutors

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Jennifer in Overland Park, KS
We reviewed the student's homework that he had completed prior to my arrival. He had some questions about it, so we went through it together. We also reviewed algebraic sentences, and he completed a sheet of questions that I made up, specifically for him. He asked me for a challenge, so I gave him more negative coordinates. He got it! We ended the session, as usual, with a game of Geometry review.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Alicia in Overland Park, KS
During this session, I worked with the first student on two-step equations. He does a very good job of knowing how to solve the equations, but sometimes needs to slow down because he mis-copies the problems when he goes through them too quickly. I also worked with the second student on interpreting graphs. We went through his worksheet looking at what the axes represented in the contexts he was given.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Judy in Overland Park, KS
The student did a very good job of learning how to add and subtract mixed fractions. He even created his own math problems and solved them. After that, we worked on analogies. We worked on finding the relationships first and then applying it to find the correct answer. This was his best day ever. He happily worked very hard today. We made a lot of progress.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by James in Overland Park, KS
This was the first time I met with the student. After introductions, we reviewed factoring and simplifying square roots. Next, reviewed some geometry and trigonometry. Finally, we moved on to practice math questions from a website. I suggested using a study guide, and that the student should continue with the practice questions on the website.
