How can a Trigonometry tutor help you?

Trigonometry is the study and measurement of triangles and their sides and angles. While that does not sound extremely important at first, understanding this skill actually leads to an array of applications. Trigonometry allowed the growth of astronomy, which often enabled ancient explorers to safely navigate the seas. It is an important part of geography, architecture, and even unlikely subjects like music theory. Trigonometric functions show up everywhere in modern life, from the measurements created by land surveyors to keeping the International Space Station functioning. The educational directors at Varsity Tutors are experienced at connecting students in McKinney, TX, with trigonometry tutors that may help you understand your classes.

The core of trigonometry rests with six basic functions - the sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant, and cosecant. Understanding these essential concepts allows you to truly explore the realm of trigonometry. When you have understood them, the doors will open to ideas like the Pythagorean theory, the law of cosines, and Galois groups. Having a firm handle on the basics could make your trigonometry studies easier, and a tutor could try to help you quickly get fully up to speed. We can find you a specialized trigonometry tutor in McKinney, TX, to optimize your study time. They will impart the knowledge you need to pursue careers in the sciences, cryptology, or engineering, to mention just a couple.

Session Summaries by Trigonometry Tutors

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Audrey in McKinney, TX
The student completed 2 out of 4 multiplication (by 2-digits) problems correct today. He practiced some simple long division problems and he seemed to be remembering the process. I reviewed some vocabulary with him: product, quotient, equivalent fractions. I gave him some word problem situations and he had to tell me what operation he would do to solve. He will need more practice on this skill. I gave him some fraction towers and he was able to name each part correctly and use them to find equivalent fractions.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Grace in McKinney, TX
Working through proportions and manipulation of negative numbers, the student completed his problem set. We talked a bit about the theoretical basis for rules of multiplying positive and negative numbers and developed several proofs along these lines. After the session, we turned to negative numbers, distribution, and the ways in which these rules help build the framework for mathematics.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Layla in McKinney, TX
This session we began by using arrays to multiply 2-digit numbers. I showed the student how the arrays relate to common algorithms for multiplication, emphasizing how place value is incorporated into how we multiply. We moved from their into division using money to represent the ones, tens, and hundreds places. We worked with re-naming hundreds as tens and tens as ones. The student struggled with the distribution of numbers as well as the idea of renaming. We connected the concrete work we were doing to the traditional long division algorithm. The student remained focused throughout the session.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Devon in McKinney, TX
We worked through his regular nightly work. It was more about ratios, which he seems to be getting the hang of. We then worked on his weekly packet and got about a quarter (2 problems) done. All in all, a very good session.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Monica in McKinney, TX
We covered solving trigonometric equations for general solutions and specific values in a certain interval. The student struggled a bit with understanding how the general solution changed when the function had a constant next to the x, but was able to understand if after more detailed explanation. Overall, the student has now grasped the material.
