Session Summaries by Trigonometry Tutors

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Kimberly in Baltimore, MD
We did some more trig review for the state exams in June. We reviewed log functions, rationalizing fractions with radicals, and adding, multiplying, and dividing radicals. He also asked me to review inequalities and absolute value equations with him, and so we did that. I was very proud of him for taking the initiative to ask for help. I gave him a multiple choice section and he didn't do that well, but he is improving and is starting to feel a little more comfortable with the test. We began to go over the answers, and got about halfway through. During our next session I will try to review more of the test with him, and we will go over a few topics I noticed that he was struggling with.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Jessica in Baltimore, MD
Today the student and I reviewed the topics in Chapter 7 of his textbook. Specifically, we went over the law of sines, ambiguous cases of sines, and the law of cosines. He informed me that he is now ahead in his class, and is very happy now that he understands the material. He was not really struggling with the rules, but at times went too fast on some problems and would get an incorrect answer. Other than that, he is doing great.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Sean in Baltimore, MD
We went through the student's upcoming homework set, covering trigonometric identities/graphing as well as arithmetic sequences. He was able to grasp these concepts, and I left him with a guide as a supplement. He just needs to practice recognizing the inherent puzzles in the identity problems as well as to memorize the major identities. We finished up with a question that he had for his review sheet, and he was able to digest that quickly enough.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Amber in Baltimore, MD
Today, we worked on preparing for his final next week. We started off working on some applications of trig functions with word problems, which he did well on. We then moved on to proving trig identities, which is a little more difficult for him but will get better if we do more. I also reviewed his homework from the previous night and noticed issues with graphing. Assuming this will be on the final, we will work on a simpler method for graphing trig functions tomorrow.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Parini in Baltimore, MD
This session was dedicated to Trigonometry. The student had a quiz on sigma notation and probabilities. This topic involves understanding what the question is asking at first before solving. Therefore I first reviewed each of the aims and gave him some review problems to make sure he understood all the material. Then we started doing the quizzes. Overall I was very proud of him!

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Xiao in Baltimore, MD
We went over AP Chemistry curriculum-- specifically chemical bonds, molecular geometry, and intermolecular forces-- and Honors Trigonometry curriculum -- specifically reference angles, trigonometric functions, and the concept of minutes in degrees. The student already had a solid foundation in both curriculum. She was very receptive to all instruction and mastered the material covered. We did go over the concept of minutes in degrees once again, and I left her with some extra practice problems. Overall, she is a great student!
