In this session with the student, I checked the assignments that I gave him last session. He is doing well in the English sections. I advised to go over the checked work and bring up any questions he has with the materials. We dedicated the rest of the session to math. The student has improved a lot and is showing progress. He had a lot more correct answers than he did before. The student can go in the exam hall with sound preparation. I left him with some more assignments that we'll go over in the next session.

We covered a broad review of vocabulary today. We worked on the list and did exercises and practice tests. They have homework to go over and learn all of the words we covered today in our session. They are also to continue reviewing the vocabulary list in the blue book on their own. They are also advised to go online and do practice problems there.

We worked heavily on vocabulary this class. The student did a very good job retaining the words and understanding the concept of roots and etymology. Following this we did some math: surface area and volume of prisms and cylinders. She was very adept with this.

TACHS Tutoring review by Kevin in Clifton, NJ
Today we covered material for the student's assessment test. We reviewed geometry and how to understand charts and graphs. The student needed guidance on how to solve some of the geometry problems, but once he figured out the steps necessary, he was able to work them out correctly. I went over how to reason out the steps necessary to solve the problems. I also left him with some take-home problems that should give him practice reasoning out the problems. We will continue to address these problems at our next session.

TACHS Tutoring review by Peter in Clifton, NJ
We covered magnetic fields and forces, the magnetic field from a current-carrying wire, the right hand rules for determining the direction of the magnetic force on a moving charge and the one for the direction of the magnetic field surrounding a current-carrying wire, how magnetic forces are centripetal forces and how to determine the radius of the charged particle's circular motion, magnetic flux, how a change in the magnetic flux through a conducting loop will induce a current whose magnetic flux will oppose that change, how to determine the direction of the induced current, and how to calculate the magnitude of the induced electromotive force. I asked the student to read the Magnetic Forces and Electromagnetic Induction chapters and to do the accompanying questions as well as reading the Thermal Physics and Waves chapters in preparation for next time.
