That light can come from a mentor, a professor, or even a friend. Through my own challenges, I've come to understand how vital that kind of support is, and how deeply it can shape a writer's path. I would not be the writer I am today without the encouragement of a high school mentor and tutor. That simple belief guided me forward, eventually leading me to my work at the writing center at Miami Dade College, where I now support students and develop workshops that help them discover the power and purpose in their writing. Writing, to me, is like watching something take root; it's messy, slow, and often uncertain. But with the right guidance, it grows. Just as I was once guided, I aspire to become a professor and writer who helps others find clarity, confidence, and strength in their writing.
