About Me
I am an experienced elementary educator with over a decade of teaching experience, including serving as a 2nd-, 4th-, and 6th-grade classroom teacher. I have worked with a wide range of learners and understand the developmental differences across elementary grades, which helps me tailor instruction to meet each child exactly where they are. I am especially skilled at supporting students who feel overwhelmed by reading-heavy assignments, unfamiliar vocabulary, or fast-paced classroom instruction. I begin by identifying what your child finds confusing and then break concepts down into clear, age-appropriate steps using discussion, visuals, examples, and guided practice. I focus on helping students truly understand what they are learning not just complete an assignment while building confidence, comprehension, and strong thinking skills. Families appreciate that I am patient, organized, and communicative, and that I help students feel more capable and confident talking about social studies at school.
Hobbies & Interests
In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, traveling, and listening to audiobooks and documentaries (I’m part of a documentary club!). I love history and geography and enjoy exploring these topics with my 11-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter through books, movies, and conversations about real historical events and places. I am part Mexican and enjoy learning about languages and cultures; I also speak Spanish. Outside of academics, I coach youth soccer, enjoy biking and yoga, and oddly love organizing and labeling spaces at home — bringing order and clarity is something I enjoy both in life and in learning!
