About Me

As a lifelong bilingual educator and instructional designer, I am deeply passionate about helping students unlock their confidence in Spanish and communicate with real-world purpose. Language opens doorsto cultures, opportunities, and human connection and there is nothing more rewarding than watching students grow from hesitant learners into expressive, culturally aware speakers who take pride in their progress. I'm a native Spanish-speaker (born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia!) and, culturally, I define myself as Caribbean-American. I bring over 13 years of professional experience teaching Spanish to students at the high school level, including Advanced Placement, IB Language B (Spanish), and proficiency-based curriculum design. I have served as a Spanish teacher, global education program leader, academic coach, and family engagement facilitator, supporting diverse learners and partnering closely with families and school communities. In addition to teaching, I design learning experiences and workshops for educators, giving me a strong foundation in both instructional design and student-centered pedagogy. I earned my graduate certificate in Instructional Design and have continued professional coursework focused on language pedagogy, global competence, and equity in education. I hold a Master's degree in English and a BS in Communications, and am committed to lifelong learning and growth, both as an educator and as a learner myself. I tutor Spanish at ALL levels and especially enjoy supporting intermediate and advanced students who want to strengthen conversational fluency, build cultural understanding, and feel prepared for real-world interactionnot just classroom performance. I love guiding students through authentic materials, proficiency-based practice, and confidence-building conversations that make language meaningful and fun. My teaching philosophy centers on building student agency, celebrating progress, and creating a supportive, immersive environment. My tutoring style is warm, encouraging, and tailored to each learner. I believe in meeting students where they are, setting clear goals, and providing structured, interactive practice that develops both fluency and joy in learning. As a bilingual professional and mom, I value curiosity, empathy, and the power of language to bring people together, values I bring to every tutoring session.
