I have always been a motivated learner, and this has ultimately helped me to be a motivated teacher. By receiving a well-rounded education, I believe that a person is made more able to meaningfully interact with the world around them. Math and science help us to understand how the world works, while English and literature help us to communicate with one another both in the present and in the past, and history helps us to see where we, as a species, have come from. Education can help us to see beauty and value in the world around us and in the path that brought us here, but also to see the road ahead, how much work is yet to be done, and how we start to do that work. To me, nothing is more important than learning, growing as a person, and helping others to do the same.

Hi!I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS, studying Global and International Studies and German. I am working towards entering law school after this coming year. I taught swimming lessons when I was in high school. I am available to tutor German I and II and the ACT. I like to tutor German because I love the culture and the language (and have visited Germany twice). My style of tutoring is more laid back, but I like to focus on areas that students have a particularly hard time.Outside of academics, I am an outdoorsman. I am an Eagle Scout, and so I enjoy backpacking, camping, canoeing, and generally being outside.Auf Wiedersehen!

My goal is to help every student reach their full potential and discover ways that they can be successful academically so that they develop a love for learning they stays with them for life. I have a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Texas A&M University and a Master's in Science in organic chemistry from Texas Tech University. I was a graduate student for a total of six years at those two universities and taught undergraduate organic and general chemistry labs during those years. I have taught high school chemistry as well as tutoring students one-on-one from grades 5th through 12th in middle school math, algebra I & II, geometry, pre-calculus, trigonometry, and Spanish I & II. I was also a fourth-grade bilingual teacher in all subjects, teaching language arts, reading, and writing in Spanish. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I particularly enjoy tutoring in math and science, as I love trouble shooting and problem solving. During the day, I do computer tech support for one of the agencies of the state of Texas. In my free time, I enjoy jumping on the trampoline with my son, jogging, working out with weights, watching movies with my kids, programming VBA macros for Microsoft Office, and teaching my daughter guitar, and roller skating. I am passionate about helping students because of my personal journey as a student. Coming from a family that instilled in me a love for learning, I sailed all the way through high school as a straight A student with little challenge academically. But when I got to the university, I experienced a major blow to my self-esteem, as for the first time in my life I began performing poorly academically. Fortunately, with the help of others I was able pull myself out of an academic "tail-spin" and graduate with a B.A. in chemistry and land a job at one of the research labs at Texas A&M in the entomology (bugs) department. Later I went on to complete a master's in chemistry. This helped has me as a teacher and tutor at the collegiate, high school, middle school, and as well as at the primary grade levels to understand the struggles students face when it just doesn't make sense. I realize that many students have different learning styles, so I believe that it is important to create an individualized study plan for each student that best fits their method of learning and allows us to make the most of the tutoring experience. I make it my goal to get a student to discover a method of learning that works best for him or her so that the student begins to experience a string of successes that will propel them towards academic achievement.

I'm a law student and long time tutor who's just made the move to Varsity. I've been tutoring for about eight years now, since I first started working with a friend of a friend's child on his SATs. I graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in economics, and I'm at Hofstra Law School.I tutor the SATs, ACTs, LSAT, GRE, basically all high school subjects, and a bevy of college ones, including history, psychology, economics, law, and writing. That's not because I'm an expert in everything - it's because the only thing I enjoy more than learning is helping someone else learn. A good tutor doesn't just explain the subject to you - they explain what's cool about it, how it applies to your life, and why you want to learn it. If I have to brush up on my AP Chemistry as an excuse to explain why dimensional analysis is actually the most useful math you'll ever learn, I find it thrilling, not a chore. That's really my whole paradigm, as a tutor. Every subject has a relation to both everyday life, and to the coolest parts of the collective achievements of humanity. Learning not just what Pi is, but what it means, is treading the same ground as the people who built the pyramids. We lose that joy - the enrichment granted by greater understanding - too often in sterile and boring classrooms. My goal is to help students attain mastery by providing the context and tools that let them have "Eureka!" moments.Learning is fun, and tutoring is more than just being a living wikipedia article. It's giving life to the dry and soulless problem set, making fun of the trap answers on the LSAT, and linking history to its greatest stories. I don't need gimmicks and games to make that happen. I just find where a student and I can connect over the material, how they learn, and what they're having trouble with.I won't guarantee anyone a score on a test or promise that everyone can get an A in every subject. But I do promise not to waste anyone's time or money. Every session, my students will learn new facts, new techniques, or new ways to understand some boring idea. That's not because I'm the smartest guy in the room: it's because I simply love seeing people learn.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students across Dublin's 28 schools with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a school in the Dublin City School District or nearby areas, tutors can support their specific curriculum and academic goals with flexible scheduling that works around their school day.
Ohio has specific academic benchmarks for each grade level, and tutors work with students to master these standards in subjects like math, reading, science, and social studies. Personalized instruction allows tutors to identify gaps in understanding and build skills at your student's pace, which is especially helpful when classroom instruction moves quickly or when students need targeted support in specific standards.
Dublin students most commonly seek tutoring in math (especially algebra and geometry), reading comprehension, standardized test prep (including Ohio assessments), and science. However, tutors support all subjects and grade levels—from elementary fundamentals to high school AP courses—depending on where your student needs the most help.
The first session is focused on getting to know your student—their learning style, current challenges, and academic goals. Tutors will assess where your student stands in their subject, discuss what's working and what isn't in their current learning, and create a personalized plan for moving forward. This foundation helps ensure every future session is as effective as possible.
Dublin's schools maintain a student-teacher ratio of about 17.7:1, which means teachers are managing many students with different needs simultaneously. One-on-one tutoring allows tutors to focus entirely on your student's learning style, pace, and specific gaps—something that's difficult in even the best-run classrooms. This personalized attention often leads to faster progress and greater confidence.
Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and your student's needs—there's no one-size-fits-all cost. To get started, you'll share details about what your student needs help with, and Varsity Tutors will connect you with an appropriate tutor. You can discuss rates and scheduling directly, and many families find tutoring fits their budget when they see the academic results.
Absolutely. Tutors in the Dublin area offer flexible scheduling to fit your family's needs—whether that's after school, evenings, weekends, or during school breaks. Since every tutor is independent, you can work directly with them to find times that don't conflict with classes, sports, music lessons, or other commitments.
Many students show noticeable improvement within 4-6 weeks of consistent tutoring, though the timeline depends on the subject, your student's starting point, and how often they meet with their tutor. Regular tutoring combined with practice between sessions typically produces the fastest results. Your tutor will track progress and adjust the approach as needed to keep momentum going.
