How can a Statistics tutor help you?

The study of statistics involves collecting, analyzing, and processing loads of raw data. Statisticians use their data analysis methods to produce reports that show trends, relationships, and significance of events. Experts in fields of study ranging from science to business to politics depend on statistical analysis to make important decisions every day. However, not all students may grasp these vital concepts in the context of a classroom setting. If you are among those students who experience problems perceiving these concepts, you could enhance your understanding with lessons from a personal tutor. The educational directors at Varsity Tutors may help you find Richmond tutors to work to try to help you keep up in statistics.

A professional statistics tutor may guide you through all the relevant concepts of statistics. These concepts include gathering data, analyzing trends, and identifying outliers. A personal tutor may also show you how to calculate such statistical values as the mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation. These expert statistics tutors have developed methods that may help you grasp not only the methods on how to calculate these values, but the reasons why these values matter in a statistical analysis report.

Statistics Tutoring review by Cole in Richmond, VA
We continued to work with chi square, ANOVA, and correlation problems today. We worked on some examples from his book, which were a little more difficult. The whole time was spent going through the technical component to these topics. Tomorrow we will look at the topics from an abstract view, going over what the tests are used for and what their conclusions show.

Geometric and binomial distributions. We discussed the difference between the two and applied the binomial distribution to multiple questions given to the student on a worksheet. She seemed to grasp the concept quite easily and without much difficulty was able to apply the formulas to applications.

Statistics Tutoring review by Meredith in Richmond, VA
During today's session the student and I covered the beginning topics of her statistics course. We defined what a population is compared to what a sample is. We also compared a parameter to a statistic. I was very pleased with her abilities to understand the examples I was giving her. She was quick to understand calculations and solve example problems.

Statistics Tutoring review by Mimi in Richmond, VA
The student's class is still progressing slowly and steadily in the elementary statistics sections of the new textbook, so we spent most of our time working on variable algebra. He was able to carryover concepts we began applying in our last meeting (finding a common denominator to be expressed as variables by multiplying terms with disparate denominators by differing expressions of 1), but he will need more practice and positive reinforcement to continue to use those concepts in a confident and flexible manner. We also began to incorporate imaginary numbers into the larger framework of practicing variable algebra skills, which came relatively easily since we can think of "I" as variables. We will continue to work on algebra skills and move our emphasis to statistics as the material becomes more complex and less geared towards plugging numbers into a graphing calculator program.
