SSAT Tutoring review by Danielle in Atlanta, GA
We started off doing the vocabulary matching again to strengthen the student's understanding of her vocabulary words. Then we did some practice reading passages. After that, I had the student take the math portion of the second practice test so I could evaluate which topics she would best benefit from reviewing next week before her test.

SSAT Tutoring review by Michael in Atlanta, GA
She is very knowledgeable in most areas, but I noticed she tends to get multiplication problems wrong that involve decimals. I showed her how to line up the factors in the correct columns and it made sense to her. This will be important because there are many questions involving percents and fractions on the SAT. We also did some reading comprehension passages. I told her that she cannot control the passages on the real test, so she will need to practice on material that she doesn't find interesting so she will be prepared for anything.

SSAT Tutoring review by Jessica in Atlanta, GA
In this session, the student and I finished reviewing the types of math problems that might be tested on the admissions test by focusing on geometry. We then worked through some example problems involving these concepts. After math, we spent some time on the reading comprehension section by talking about the different types of passages and what type of answers they were looking for. We then worked through three example passages together. We finished the session with a quick review of the analogies and synonyms section.

SSAT Tutoring review by Alyssa in Atlanta, GA
After reviewing the reading comprehension questions that the student missed last week, I had him complete the verbal section from the same practice exam. Though he has wonderful logic, he sometimes over thinks what the analogy relationship really is. I reminded him to take his time and really consider the answers before leaping to conclusions. I also gave him 25 new vocab words to work on until our next meeting.
