What grade are they currently in?

Alfredo is a wonderful teacher. My 7 year old son is able to focus on the lesson for the full hour because Alfredo makes if fun to learn Spanish. The sessions are recorded so we can go back and review and also see how well they interact together. Alfredo is also very willing to work with our schedule which changes frequently and he always makes time for our son's lessons.

Session Summaries by Spanish Tutors

Spanish Tutoring review by James in Laguna Niguel, CA
We continued to work on our review for the student's final exam (oral and listening). He has improved so much since our first session. We had an hour long conversation about basic things such as schedules, likes/dislikes, descriptions of people and places, uses of TENER + QUE, GUSTAR, introductions, age, origins, etc. He should be very well prepared for his final. I'm very happy to see his progress.

Spanish Tutoring review by Natalie in Laguna Niguel, CA
The student mentioned she wanted our sessions to be run like a book club. I sent her the title of a book which she started reading since our first session. We had a conversation in Spanish about the book and I corrected the phrases or words that she needed help with.

We reviewed basic introductory conversation vocabulary and discussed the difference between usted and tu. We went over stem changing verbs and did some exercises with conjugating stem changing verbs and using them in context. I left the student with some worksheets on today's material as well as last session's material to review for homework.

We continued to discuss phrases and grammatical constructions, including the preterite tense, that the student can use in his work. He demonstrated great progress on conjugating verbs in the present tense and seemed to pick up the preterite tense well. He still struggles with word order (especially with prepositions), but is showing improvement.

We covered the first two chapter that the student needs to cover before he can sit for his final. We completed 2 multiple choice sections and 2 instructor generated assignments. Additionally, we planned out a strategy for tackling the following chapters and intend to complete the assignments that are needed for him to apply for an exam date by the end of the week.

Spanish Tutoring review by Michael in Laguna Niguel, CA
5:20 - 6:20 Student 1 We started with a grade check, where all of his grades are A's and B's, except for English, where he has a high C. His difficulty is in the vocabulary quizzes every week, with his highest score being a 77. More repetition and review is needed. We then worked on Spanish, conjugating regular AR/ER/IR verbs and translating sentences using different verbs and vocabulary from his packet. That took the bulk of our time. We then worked on an English packet that dealt with nouns, and he had no trouble with that, including the multiple choice logic questions at the bottom of each page. 6:20 - 7:20 Student 2 We did a grade check, and she has all A's, except for Chemistry, which is a B. She did not do as well as she would have liked on the last test and wanted to review material before she saw the teacher to talk about her errors. We went over 2 sections in the book that the test was on, and she took notes and seemed to understand better the material once I explained it in layman's terms. We then focused on her math, where I went over a study guide that she had done, and had her correct one problem that dealt with lining up the decimals correctly. We then worked on 2 word problems involving independent and dependent variables, and I walked her through them step by step. She listens very well and takes excellent notes. We finally talked about a history test that she has coming up on the Roman Empire, and we discussed the reasons why the Empire fell and how far it reached at its peak. Both students are excellent workers and are always attentive and ready to do what is necessary to learn the material. Next session is next Monday at 5:30 pm for 2 hours.
