What grade are they currently in?

Alfredo is a wonderful teacher. My 7 year old son is able to focus on the lesson for the full hour because Alfredo makes if fun to learn Spanish. The sessions are recorded so we can go back and review and also see how well they interact together. Alfredo is also very willing to work with our schedule which changes frequently and he always makes time for our son's lessons.

Session Summaries by Spanish Tutors

Spanish Tutoring review by Cynthia in Escondido, CA
We started out the class with a small conversation in Spanish. The first student gave me five phrases in Spanish today which is much better than five words! Then we worked in our textbook. We learned school vocabulary and even some verbs. The second student was very good at giving the translations of the words. After reading the verbs, that gave us an opportunity to recall the three verbs we had worked on before and how you conjugate them. We then watched some videos.

I started the session with Student 1, who had completed his homework! He has a final exam coming up, so I worked with him on how to study for the exam by looking at the provided review guide, working through each chapter (retaking notes), completing an exercise associated with each grammar lesson, and studying only those vocabulary words not mastered. If he follows my study plan, I think he will do well on the final. Then I worked with Student 2 who has a test coming up. He has just started learning the preterit tense, so I worked with him on that tense and on various exercises related to the preterit tense. We ended by working on some vocabulary for his test. His homework is to study his vocabulary words and to practice the preterit tense.

Spanish Tutoring review by Carly in Escondido, CA
We started the lesson with a review of some of the things we did last week. I gave them ten sentences to translate into Spanish, most of the sentences related to the script we read last week of a patient who comes to the office for an appointment. Then we moved on to a general review of what we have been doing so far. We began with a crossword puzzle of months and days of the year, and they spelled out the words in Spanish as we filled them in. We continued with a worksheet of -er and -ir verbs. They had to fill in sentences using the correct form of -er and -ir verbs. Then they would say what each sentence meant. We ended the lesson with a worksheet on the verb tener, which is a stem-changing verb.

Spanish Tutoring review by Lizeth in Escondido, CA
We memorized the verbs "hacer" and "tener" in simple past. The strategy was to memorize it while completing a puzzle. Then, to practice all the conjugations of regular and irregular verbs in past tense we played a game called basta, using the personal pronouns as items. To finish the session, he read one page of the book "El principito" by Saint Exupery.
