What grade are they currently in?

Alfredo is a wonderful teacher. My 7 year old son is able to focus on the lesson for the full hour because Alfredo makes if fun to learn Spanish. The sessions are recorded so we can go back and review and also see how well they interact together. Alfredo is also very willing to work with our schedule which changes frequently and he always makes time for our son's lessons.

Session Summaries by Spanish Tutors

Spanish Tutoring review by Maria in Bucks County, PA
On today's class we went over the verbs in present tense that we learned on last session. Student seemed to remember most of it. We practiced the conjugations, as I was saying sentences in English and she was translating them in Spanish. Also, we practiced casual conversation in Spanish by asking and answering questions.

We practiced usage of the subjunctive. Rather than discuss each question, I had her make her best guess for a few at a time so that she could realize that when she doesn't doubt herself, her instincts are correct. We then went back and discussed why she chose certain answers. I requested that she study the verb charts. She needs to recognize the different forms of tenses to speed up the answer process and to give her more confidence.

The student and I had a nice lesson today. We went over a few grammar things (commands, present subjunctive) as his syllabus shows that he will be flooded with new grammatical topics this year. We also did a short writing exercise, I gave him 5 minutes to write a paragraph about the last vacation he took, and then went through and helped him review it. (His teacher does this in class for a grade so it's a mini-practice version). We also spoke for about 30 minutes because his teacher also puts a large emphasis on speaking. We then went over the vocabulary that he will have to know for the test at the end of the chapter. His Spanish is quite good, he just has to be sure to use the proper gender when saying nouns, and make sure the adjectives agree in gender and number.

We worked on vocabulary and then did two pages in their textbook. We are learning the names of people of the family and adjectives that describe people. We then read more of One Fish, Two Fish in Spanish. Finally, we watched some of the Adams Family in Spanish. The student, in particular, is really attentive and picking up lots of Spanish.

The student seemed to work more independently on his homework today. Although he has many vocal verbs to learn and memorize from two combined chapters, he seemed to understand imperative verbs very well and utilized the patterns correctly. We worked on both homework and transcribing verbs today as well as a little vocabulary.

Spanish Tutoring review by Quiana in Bucks County, PA
The student is preparing for another exam using present and preterite tense, -AR, -ER and IR verbs. We also reviewed irregular yo forms, and verbs ending in -car, -gar, -zar. I encouraged her to use software or Internet practice that incorporates visual clues so she could be more engaged with studying on her own time.
